[ FOR EVERYONE ] hello! the exploration guide found in the territory map project is not getting seen as much and i am frequently asked, "what are explorations?" -- so i am moving it to its own project. please do check out the territory map though! https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1122801146/ -- What are explorations? -- Our territory map has a lot of unexplored area! Exploring a tile permanently unlocks it for gameplay. They are parties of 3-5 cats chosen by the deputies to go out into the unknown and report back with their new knowledge. Inrp, this is one irl week where you cannot participate in any clan activities like hunting, patrolling, wars, etc. You cannot roleplay in your clan's studio. However! This is also a very fun chance because you will be able to roleplay in the Unclaimed Territories studio for the entirety of the week, only being able to roleplay with those going on the exploration with you. This is a very fun chance to be able to build deep connections with cats from other Clans and meet characters you otherwise wouldn't be able to meet! I will be attempting to give flavor text about the explored territory to explorees. These may or may not be lore relevant. -- Consequences (good and bad): - +10 EXP to warriors, +5 to apprentices. - There is a death chance. Death chance depends on the group's /total/ exp, so it's hard to predict, but at minimum is a 10% death chance. - Cannot starve, get an illness, be poisoned, or die due to safety fail if on an exploration - if you DO just contact a highrank or staff admin to get it removed. -- Rules: - You may only explore once in a cats' lifetime. - To earn the exp, you must do at least three separate roleplays with your exploring partners. Please vary the cats you do this with, please do not just grind out three quick roleplays with whoever on the first day. Genuinely take the time to make the experience fun and meaningful for your character. - If you roll death, you may roleplay during the exploration, but not after. You can definitely do a death roleplay with your exploring partners! VOTING RULES: - You must cast a vote on which tile to explore before the exploration begins. - The tile voted on must be adjacent to explored territory. Locrypt tiles are currently out of play and do not count as explored nor unexplored. - Cannot explore into the ocean
[ FOR DEPUTIES ] -- Precursor: Deputies are fully responsible for the arranging of explorations. They should happen every 2 weeks. Tiles are expected to be reported to the highrank admin every Saturday of the second and fourth weeks of the month. Failure to gather cats and begin voting results in the demotion of the deputies who are responsible for the failure. If you become leader, you /must/ finish gathering your exploration for that 2 week period before passing the torch to the next deputy. One of the main reasons explorations fail is because deputies become leaders and then they simply drop their exploration responsibility. This will no longer be tolerated. I highly recommend gathering cats for the first and third weeks of the month, and then holding the votes during the second and fourth weeks, so that the tile is fully ready to be reported by Saturday on those weeks. -- Rules of Explorations: - Requires one willing cat from each Clan, but the two extra slots can be cats of any allegiance, including loners and kittypets. - There is a max of five slots, instead of six, to force deputies to actually coordinate and interact with each other- this means not every deputy can choose just one or two cats. - A highrank may not be on an exploration, as they are needed within the Clan. - Exploring may not be used as a punishment. - Exploring cats must be found inrp, not oorp. Cats should go with inrp motives, not with oorp bribery such as art. This is iterated more within the 'Importance' section. - The meet up / coordination with other deputies and the voting process does not HAVE to be inrp but its heavily recommended so you can gain those connections! PROCESS First/Third Week of the Month: Finding cats. At the end of this week, you should have your cats. Meet with the other deputies with your chosen cats. Second/Fourth Week: You and the chosen cats will hold a vote on the tile to explore. At the end of this week, you MUST report to the Highrank Admin with the voted on tile. Any deputies who did not participate will be demoted. Fifth Week: Break - you can get a headstart on finding more cats or just don't worry about it. The first week starts the first Sunday of the month, same day as the Gathering. IMPORTANCE: Doing explorations as a deputy and learning to get cats to do things by interacting and talking to them INRP means you have the skills to be a leader and run your own events and Clan. If you can only convince cats to do things by bribery with art and begging oorp chat, not bothering to interact with cats inrp, then why would anyone care about your lore or your leadership? Being deputy - all of their tasks - surround interacting with cats inrp and gaining connection to them for the benefit of the Clan. Keeping prey up, keeping safety up, making sure the Clan is on your side and likes you, and finally, doing these explorations. Explorations are your chance to build connections and be able to "sell" something you want other cats to have fun with, and make it fun. I've seen people go the extra mile to make explorations fun and make people want to go on them. Using inrp methods and character development! This is your role as a deputy, and your role as a leader- to inspire and make people have fun within the Clan's lore. Among all your deputy responsibilities, explorations is the one we as staff can monitor best. If you aren't doing explorations, you're probably not doing your other tasks either. Explorations show a lot of important skills you'll need for leadership- interacting with your clanmates, doing a weekly task consistently, being able to communicate with a highrank admin when there's issues, etc. If you can't do it then you likely cut out for a role like leader.
