On April 13th, 1996, extreme atmospheric conditions produced a tornado outbreak over Oklahoma. Many violent tornadoes would strike populated areas, including this violent F5 that struck the growing town of Cylan City (specifically the Sonia Falls subdivision), causing millions of dollars in damages. Peak windspeeds from this tornado were estimated to be ≥284 MPH having disintegrated multiple well-built homes, ripping up asphalt and underground plumbing, and even cracking the foundations of houses. This video was captured by John Williams, taken from approximately 0.75 miles north of the tornado.
