Hi! I'm Skygirl1929, but you can call me Sky. I love aviation (specifically from the 1920s-1940s and modern electric aircraft), history (especially Roman times and the 1920s-present), and Earth science (especially natural disasters and climate change). My favorite aircraft are the Travel Air 4000/D-4-D, Beech Staggerwing, Douglas DC-3, Supermarine Spitfire, and Pipistrel Alpha Electro. I also really like the Piper J-3 “Cub,” North American AT-6 “Texan”/SNJ-5 “Harvard,” DeHavilland DH.100 Vampire, Cessna 120/140, Cessna 170, Rutan Long EZ, Grumman F14 “Tomcat,” Northrop T-38 “Talon,” and RV-15. I have also designed a few aircraft. See this project: For history, I know a lot about aviation history and the various wars. I know the most about these years: 1929, 1939-1945, 1986, 1989, 2001, 2003, and 2005. I also know a lot of disasters. (Evil laugh) My favorite natural disasters are volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires. Feel free to request a lecture on any of the above topics! Warning: I may also include a link to a PBS NOVA documentary, because they’re amazing. They got me into natural disaster science. You know what, I’ll include the link to my favorite, “Deadliest Volcanoes” from 2012. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AvatFWUoLE (Note: the documentary is only 52-53 min but the video repeats it, possibly to avoid copyright. Also it's listed as a history channel doc, but it is NOVA). Anyway, no one can see this but I need to make my signature longer just because. Wait, how many characters is this? I know there is a maximum of 2000 (because I put in 180000 spaces and it said that was too long). This is probably a good thing. People probably did try to make extremely long signatures, so they put a maximum on it. Still not 2000 characters. Why can't I do 2001 characters? or 2003? 2005? Did you know that the deadliest hurricane in 2005 was not Katrina, but category 1 (lowest hurricane category) Hurricane Stan which lasted only 4 days. This was due to a lack of preparation. Just like Tropical Depression Winnie (2004, not to be confused with Typhoon Winnie of 1997, which shares the record for largest eye/center), which had a death toll of almost 1600 and a max wind speed of 35 mph (TDs are the weakest tropical cyclones/systems). The 1970 Bhola Cyclone, which hit Bangladesh (then, East Pakistan), had a death toll of over 300,000 because there was no warning and it had winds around 115mph (equivalent to a category 4 hurricane). Imagine what would have happened if no one had been warned about Harvey (2017), Katrina (2005, cat 5 but cat 3 at landfall), or Ian (2022, also technically a cat 5 but a cat 4 at landfall).
