CoolGames115 --- Retrospective After five years of Scratch, I think my time here is over. I started with the account @Jbot8000, and posted small projects on there (sometimes games or animations). Nothing really came of it and once I realized I'd developed relatively good coding skills, I restarted on this account. It all started with Beatoast, which won third in one of @--CHA0S--'s contests. I then gained a hefty ammount of followers and posted games from then on. Now I've got an arsenal of titles under my belt, like Lost in Black, Don't Let Billy Freeze, and Knead for Speed. All of which I am very proud of. I even began work on a sequel to Lost in Black titled, "The Light". Because I am moving on from Scratch, it will likely never be finished.
Why am I leaving? I have been on Scratch since it was in its peak and now it's just gone downhill. Right now I think Scratch is in its lowest of lows. Ever. It seems that too many people are worried about "AI Slop" on the platform. It just really takes away from the fact that this is a platform for kids. We shouldn't make people feel bad for making creativity easier. Although, I am not saying I support the uprise of AI on Scratch. I'm sure this has been brought up many times, but the maintenance of the website has also become very clear. Despite subscriptions and donations, somehow the Scratch has still managed NOT to fix the dumpster fire that the Explore Page is. It is also mind-boggling the sheer drought of updates that Scratch has. It has been 7 years since 3.0 released, and we are JUST NOW getting word of 4.0. What's the biggest addition you ask? It's AI. Didn't see that coming. The originality and creativity of Scratch is gone. I'm not saying its because of AI, but its the lack of community. Name one NEW creator that has brought at least 3 impressive projects to the table (that aren't generic). It's pretty hard to do. So yeah. That's why I'm Done. I had fun. Hope it was cool.
