. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. ˎˊ˗ as shimmerpaw watched her best friend run away from her, the only thought she could think of was ‘what did i do wrong?’ it had been perfectly normal. her and immortellepaw had met up at the border, like usual, and were talking. sure, their tails brushed, and sure, shy had felt a rush of heat spread through her body, and sure! maybe shimmerpaw had thought about how pretty mori had looked in that moment. but that didn’t mean anything! ..right? it was normal to think about how stunning your friend’s smile was, to notice how the setting sun lit faer eyes on fire, to want to say screw the rules and cross the border to sit with her, wasn’t it? something about it told shimmerpaw it wasn’t. the gray apprentice stared ahead at urchinclan’s territory, body cold at the loss of contact. “damn it!” she hissed, standing up and turning away from immortellepaw’s home. it was like she couldn’t bear to see it. to know mori was somewhere out there without her. shimmerpaw’s paws were moving before she could register it. they led her into flurryclan’s territory, into an open field. her heart was racing, mind a complete turmoil. why was she feeling this way? what did it mean? why in starclan’s name did immortellepaw just get up and run away? what did shy did wrong? a sob tore at shimmerpaw’s chest as the she-cat stumbled to the ground, burying her nose in a clump of flowers. she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but when she looked up, a sour laugh escaped her muzzle. the flowers were the same color as immortellepaw’s eyes. of course they were. shimmerpaw reached out with a paw, slicing through the orange petals with a sudden burst of pain. the scraps fell to the grass, a mask of what they once were, and shy felt a pang of guilt rush over her imminently. why had she done that? “no, no-“ shimmerpaw tried to gather the torn petals, piling them together like they would somehow return to what they once were. “i’m sorry, please.” when it seemed like nothing would work, she let out a sob, pulling the scraps close to her chest. she would remain there for a while, letting her tears soak the ground beneath her. when the sun fell under the tree line was when she finally stood up, gathering the petals. she contorted her neck, lifting her paw to scatter the orange plants on her back. she would carry them with her everywhere. . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. ˎˊ˗
