Wow... if you thought that Scratch's AI policy was crazy, this email sent to the parents of all Scratch users just bluntly told us that AI is the future of creativity, and there's nothing we can do to change it. ▼△▼△▼△▼△ BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE ▼△▼△▼△▼△ Scratch 4.0 is on the way: a new Scratch centered around "Creative AI" that does all of the investigative, innovative, and unique coding FOR YOU. Before we lose our heads about AI-generated art taking over Scratch content, let it be known that nowhere in this email do the Admins say that this will be generative AI. While I do appreciate that the administrators of Scratch want to keep up the pace with other programming applications and keep the site fresh and new, using AI tools is not the way to do this. ▼△▼△▼△▼△ I joined Scratch because it allowed me to be creative and express what was unique about me, but in a world where anyone can just effortlessly copy what others scratchers make, I feel like I am being run over by the mountains of AI-generated content and no longer have a fair chance to do what I do best. ▼△▼△▼△▼△ What do YOU think about Scratch 4.0?
