When I Look Up: When I look up, not by accident, not by chance, but because I remembered I can. When I look up, past the rush, traffic, deadlines, all that noise. When I look up, the sky won’t seem so far away, won’t feel like something I’m not allowed to touch or reach for. When I look up, the stars will still be there, you and I, and millions of millions more. When I look up, everything is shining, silver, gold, every shape, every size, everyone a star. When I look up, I won’t reach. I won’t need to. I won’t need to earn it, won’t need to be more than I, I am. When I look up, there are colors, sun, rain, space, something bigger than me, something that doesn’t ask me to be anything at all. When I look up, I am not rushed, not pulled apart by everything I thought mattered. When I look up, I see all of us, joyful, breaking, angry, carrying more than we should. And still, we forget. One day, when I look up… I will wonder how many days, I didn’t.
