This was probably the reaction museum regulars, employees, and some volunteers had today. Apparently, many of our restoration volunteers at Ontario have secretly been working over the past two years to get the fuel systems, brakes, and engines of our F7F back to working condition. Today, they decided to bring it out for a test run and taxi before bringing it back inside. Do note that the cockpit is still somewhat gutted and messed up, and we have no clue if there is any corrosion in the airframe or not. The wing fold mechanism also isn't functional. In other words, it shouldn’t be airworthy. Right now, there are no plans to fully restore it to flight, and since there aren’t really any events that happen at the Ontario location, we don’t expect it to be ran much. We’ll probably run it when we open our Grumman hangar though.
