A well-structured debate is not -calling names -ignoring points -being angry at others for not agreeing with you -saying things not related to your debate -making up facts -saying “I’m right” -being hateful to certain groups -or anything else of that category A debate is -thoughtfully answering questions by the other side -respecting people but still defending your own viewpoint -assuming good faith -providing true facts and statistics -actually giving reasons instead of saying something and getting mad when being questioned about it. -staying on-topic If you see anyone breaking rules or being exceptionally rude, you may report it to a manager. Here’s our trustworthy group of debaters: (our founder, Xim) (Co-founder) (Dogear) (Star) (Ram) (Yaeli) Respect. The base of a good debate is respect. Respect others. That is clear. But also respect yourself. Don’t back down from a debate. If you truly believe in it, then show the world. The point of this studio is to debate. Don’t be scared to do just that. You can always say something and if someone does not agree, then you now have something to debate about. Be open! Why would you come on and express your opinions if you can’t back it up? You should be ready to have people disagree with you; it’s a part of life. And if you want to, go ahead, debate those people! A good debate is composed of a lot of things. But to start, it’s -State your views Every debate on our studio starts with a comment. Sometimes it will be a person saying a hot take, others will be giving their opinion on the QOTW (Question of the Week) QOTD (Question of the Day) and RD (Rainbow diddly-goop). Not every debate has to be about policy, you can argue over whether cereal is a soup! -Reply If you see something you agree with - or rather, don’t - reply! That’s the point! Start with a question, if you’d like, then present your argument. Then go back and forth, and make sure to actually rebut. ▞ Host Message its the big Y in da houseeee ▞ Managers If you have any questions, concerns, or want a studio invite, contact one of our managers! ▞ Conclusion!
