TW: This Chapter includes death and childhood trauma, and mention of a panic attack. NOT FOR KIDS Click! The camera went off, and the photographer looked up from it. “All rightie, folks! Just wait ‘till this finishes drying, and you’re all set to go back home!” He said with a flashy grin. Lamar and his parents had come to Cattopia for a vacation, from their real home in the main kingdom of the Hidden Lands. After a couple minutes of waiting, Lamar’s father received the picture. Though, it wasn’t exactly finished drying. “Thank you sir.” Lamar’s father said politely. He turned to Lamar and patted him on the head. “Go get your mother, my little lamb.” He said with a smile. Lamar’s mother had left them to sit at a bench. “Okay Dad!” Lamar said, hugging his father before leaving. But suddenly, a blood curdling scream was heard. It was his mother’s. “Nanami!” Lamar’s father’s eyes went as wide as balls. He ran towards the source, to be face to paw with a giant white cat. Lamar’s father panicked. When he spotted Lamar behind him, he pushed him away, indicating that he wanted him to run. Lamar nodded, scared, and ran. Lamar hid in an alleyway, and watched in horror as he saw the mangled body of his mother. His mother’s legs were crushed, showing broken bones. She was bleeding, too much for her to get out of this alive. Lamar watched as his father attacked and yelled at the giant beast, tears flowing around his scarlet eyes. Lamar watched as his father was thrown into a wall. His father didn’t get up. Lamar burst out crying as he ran over to his father. “Dad! Dad, wake up!” Lamar cried, the tears flowing down his red furry cheeks into a darker shade. Lamar’s father wasn’t breathing, but his mother somehow was. “Lamar… Lamar, come over here… please…” Lamar’s mother croaked. Lamar turned his head toward his mother, and rushed over to her. “Mom… Mom… Dad’s hurt, what do I do? Please Mom, I need you…” Lamar said, laying his head on his mothers red stained magenta fur. Lamar’s mother caressed her son’s cheek. “Lamar… listen to me… go to the orphanage at the shelter… take my necklace with you. Stay alive…” Lamar’s mother said weakly. She was fading by the second, so she had to tell him what to do quickly. Lamar nodded, and reached for his mother’s prized necklace, but hesitated. “What about you and Dad, Mommy?” Lamar said quietly. Lamar’s mother smiled weakly. “We’ll be here with you, no matter what,” She said, before closing her eyes. “Go, me and your father love you...” Lamar hesitated, took a deep breath and removed his mother’s necklace. He put it on and ran, as fast as his little eight-year old legs could take him. —--------------------<(◍ᴗ◍)>—-------------------- After Lamar had a whole panic attack, he was escorted to his room. As he stood absolutely TEARING apart his punching bag, someone knocked on the door. He walked over and opened the door, Cole standing out of it, grinning like a maniac. “What?” Lamar muttered. Cole’s grin widened. What was he planning now? “I’m getting you… a roommate!” “A roommate?!” Lamar exclaimed. Lamar didn’t necessarily feel excited and happy, he felt upset. He hadn’t felt this upset ever since he had to take a cooking class with other kids (It was chaos.) He practically HATED social interaction, and now here he was. None of the other orphans had a roommate, and none of them even shared a room with their own siblings. If someone had to get a roommate, it shouldn’t be him. Cole nodded. “All of the other orphanage’s rooms are full. So, we decided to fix both of our problems, and add a little one into your dorm room. We think that if you have a friend, you’ll be less… you know, violent!” Cole teased. Lamar sighed and rolled his eyes, starting to grimace. He’d like nothing more than to punch the guard in the face, but even someone like him wasn’t dumb enough to do that. “Can I meet the kid at least?” Lamar asked. Cole nodded and left the room. He returned with a yellow furred kit, younger than Lamar. She wore a collar with a big bell on it, and had freckles. She even actually appeared cuter than Lilly! He was surprised, to say the least. “Lamar, meet Elizabeth. Elizabeth, meet Lamar.” Cole said. Lamar extended his paw. Elizabeth shyly shook Lamar’s paw. “Hey.” Lamar said. Lamar hasn’t been this annoyed ever since he had to attend a cooking contest. “H-Hi…” responded ElizaBeth quietly, avoiding his gaze.
