When she came out as Pan to her homophobic parents, they kicked her out and she went to live with her Aunt May and Uncle Ben. She then got the piercings as an act of rebellion against her parents(her aunt and uncle dont really care). When Gwen Stacy hops into Dixie's universe for spot, its at the time where people think that Spiderwoman killed the kid and the aunt, and the uncle basically kicked her out(identity revealed to him so he was really really disappointed). That dimension hated Spiderwoman, so she followed Gwen into the portal. Looking around, Dixie found a way to travel to other dimensions. She went to dimension 1753 and found her parallel universe self(Dahlia Darmon). This version didn't have a lot of piercings because her parents were accepting. Eventually they teamed up and used the watches to safely fight in other universes. Dixie's natural web shooters didn't grow in until a week later and shes a B student failing science, so she couldnt make web shooters and didnt have webs for a while. When they finally came in though, it took a few days to figure out everything. I'll put more lore if I come up with it :)
