two drawings here #1 this is the same character i made a while ago (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1270853702/) this was pretty hard to draw, the neck especially. its supposed to be this glass tube, with water and balls floating inside, (kinda resembling a spine) but like, how do you even render that? glass on its own is already incomprehensible to render, but then you have water, which complicates things even more since itll warp the form of objects inside it.. so yeah, i had no idea how to properly render that #2 this is @octomaster2021's OC, jott. i REALLY liked her design, shes supposed to be like this plastic doll, so i tried to render her as if she were plastic. it seems that on more complex forms plastic has a lot more highlights, with basically no midtones blending the highlights into the other values. also there is quite a bit of reflection from the environment. which i didnt really capture here. i guess you could say what i did here reads as a more dull plastic? idk. something cool i also did was in the light areas, i got rid of detail, like in her right eye. its something that i noticed in real life, is that when there is a really strong light most of the details get erased. i also noticed that when there is a strong light, the midtones are very saturated (according to the lights color i think) i tried to do that in this drawing, but i held it back a little because i wasnt sure how that effect would interact with the material of the plastic i think the values for both of the drawings read pretty well, though #2 is a little iffy, i feel like there should be more cast shadows on the dress?
