PT. 1 It all started one evening in San Francisco, when Alex was four years old. The sun was setting in a hue of orange and pink. No clouds to be seen for miles. Alex’s brother-Lucas, (quirk: water jet. He absorbs the surrounding water in the atmosphere and it comes out of his palms.) was teasing her about something. Her mother-Elissa, (Quirk: water control: Can manipulate water however she likes-the only down side is she needs to be fully hydrated for it to be in effect) was making dinner. Lasagna to be precise. Her father-Ben, (Quirk: water jet. He absorbs the surrounding water in the atmosphere and it comes out of his palms.) just sat down from a long day at work. Both Alex’s mother and father were Pro Heros. Lucas was 24, he just got accepted as a doctor at the UCSF Medical center. Alex was already very talkative at her age-and (thanks to Lucas) could understand a lot of words. So when he said “Hey Fish face.” She replied “Oh shut up.” Her father chuckled-”Well Alex, looks like you’ve learned some language!” Alex nodded eagerly. Elissa poked her head out of the kitchen and said with a sly grin, “Hmm…wonder where she learned that?” looking at Lucas. Alex pointed at him. Lucas’ face turned red. Elissa came out of the kitchen holding a plate of food in her hands and gave Alex a pat on the head with her free hand, “Thank you sweatheart.” she said with a soft tone. “Sweet home Alabama.” Lucas said with a grin. “Excuse me?” Elissa said-utterly confused. “Eh-nothing. Just don’t think too hard about it.” He said with a smirk as he slid into his seat. The door bell rang. Ben looked at Lucas with a “that's on you, you know” look on his face. Lucas grounded-got up and headed for the door. Alex sat down-legs too small to reach the floor. The family heard the door open. “Packege for Lucas Evergreen?” said a voice. “Hm? That’s weird I didn’t order anyth-” a gunshot. Elissa and Ben stood up at the same time and rushed over. Alex followed her parents to see-them yelling at some men. She couldn’t hear them too well though, her mind was on something else at that moment. Lucas. His body-still and motionless, lying in a pool of blood. She didn’t even realize she was shaking. Her mother grabbed Alex’s wrist and started pulling her upstairs. “Come on sweetie-Daddy’s going to talk to those men ok? We are going to go somewhere safe!” Alex could tell she had been crying. Alex was getting really scared. “Mommy-What about Lucas?” She asked. Her mother stayed quiet. They were running up the stairs now. “Mommy-” “Lucas-he’s-” Another gunshot. Tears stung at Alex’s eyes. She could tell her mother was resisting the urge to scream and cry. They reached Alex’s parents bedroom. Her mother knelt down to Alex, and placed a hand on her shoulder, and with a shaky voice, said “Now sweetie-see that window?” Alex gave a shaky nod. “ok…I'm going to climb out of it, and you are going to be on my back-It might sound a little funny but-” Footsteps and voices could be heard from the stairs-none that Alex could recognize though. “Alex we need to go now-” Elissa said, eyes widening. “But Lucas-” “There’s no time.” Her mother was already halfway out the window. “Alex-WE NEED TO GO-” Alex’s eyes were filled with tears-”I’M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT LUCAS!” and she ran to the door. Just before Alex could touch the handle-it swung open and there stood 5 tall men-all holding weapons. Elissa didn’t even have time to say Alex’s name one last time, before she was shot dead center in the head and fell out the window. Alex didn’t even have time to scream. She was shoved into a potato sack. She realized right then and there…no one could save her. Through her sobs-She heard a door open and a cold breeze bit at her through the bag. She also smelled smoke and heard screams. Screams of terror and fear. “WE FOUND HER!” Yelled one of the men carrying the bag. She heard footsteps running towards her. That was the last thing she heard before it all faded to black.
PT. 2 “Is she going to be ok?” “The doctors say she’s stable…” “I don’t care what the doctors say-She’s been through hell and probably doesn't remember half of it.” “This kid…” Alex awoke with a sudden jolt and sat up. Bright lights stung at her eyes. Her chest hurt. Her eyes hurt. Her arms hurt. Everything hurt. Just then-a flash. Hands reaching towards her. Needles stinging. “Increese voltage.” “It’ll kill her!” Pain. “No-please no-please I-d-don’t hurt me-!” Alex pleaded, covering herself with her hands while scrambling to the corner of the bed. There were people. Too many people. She was in the lab again, she knew it. The room was too white and she had machines hooked up to her. She was shaking so hard she had to close her mouth to keep her teeth from chattering. “Shouta-is she going to be ok?” a woman asked with an almost shaky voice. The man with the label “Shouta” gave a sigh, not a “fed-up” kind of sigh…but a tired, almost sad one. “Hizashi just went to tell the nurses she woke up, I hope he mentioned she’s in shock.” A taller man also came in, he had long yellow hair and glasses. “The nurses said they’re monitoring her from the other room.” He looked at Alex and gave a little wave with a friendly smile. As he sat down he continued, “They said we should just talk and go about our normal day here, so she can get used to seeing our faces and such. And if something ‘bad’ happens, she starts hurting herself or something, for us to come get them.” "What about the others?” Shouta asked. “They didn’t say anything about them, we should give them a call when she says she's ready.” The woman nodded, then also gave a little wave to Alex before continuing her conversation. Days passed and Alex felt more comfortable, she learned the three peoples names and grew fond of them. She was still scared to let them get too close or touch her, but she wasn't in the state they rescued her in. That was great. The man Hizashi, or-Mic as he liked to go by, told her stories and told little Alex all about his podcast. Alex wasn’t sure what that was…but she seemed really cool from how he described it. Aizawa had always worn black, though she really liked him. He told her stories of times he had saved people and cats from trees. He also told her that he was a teacher at a school that trains heroes, Mic and Midnight where too. She loved hearing the stories of who he taught there. And Ms. Midnight-Alex never admitted it, but she liked her best. Midnight told her stories and Alex listened. She told her about “fashion trends” and Alex listened. She told Alex about food and drinks at fancy restaurants, Alex listened.
