Haven't posted in a bit so here we are! I hope you all are blessed by this new hymn cover. :) This is one of the many hymns I love. It's a great encouragement for us to continue standing on higher ground, anchored to God, rather than on other things that will only crumble at our feet. I struggle with idolatry to technology and often put it over God, which is something I need to consistently battle against. It is one of the things that will crumble at my feet if I keep relying on it to sustain me (I spend too much time on screens and treat it like an idol by always checking it and spending hours unecessarily scrolling). There was a sermon today at my church from a guest speaker about how we often "lean on our never-lasting arms," when we should be leaning on THE ever-lasting arms (of God). It's easy to rely on ourselves to plan out our whole lives, days, and go through all trials and battles, but we simply cannot sustain ourselves. We are not designed to live by our own strength. We are trying to keep ourselves up with our strength, while simulatneously being the bringer of our own weakness. There are so many verses out there about how we shouldn't be relying on ourselves to figure things out. Always remember that you were not designed to carry these burdens alone, and that you NEED God to help you and lift the weight off your shoulders. Don't restrict yourself from coming to Him and talking to Him about all your struggles and weights of life. God is faithful, loving, and just. - Lyrics: Though Satan's weights would pull me down, The Savior guides my way My steps are measured by His word A firm foundation He has laid [Chorus] I want to stand on higher ground To know His voice, the sweetest sound No turning back, I'm heaven bound Lord lift me up to higher ground New strength I find on higher ground Above the world's allure He marks my path and points my way In Christ alone I am secure
