Why the future of Doors relies on the Castle Update For three years, Roblox Doors has been one of Roblox’s biggest horror games. But now, its future might depend entirely on one update — the Castle. So far, we’ve had amazing and well-made updates and the graphics are stunning. But Doors has been needing a new floor update, and the survival of the game all relies on the castle. But before we talk about the Castle, we need to talk about the Mines. I previously complimented the graphics, but when I replay the game, I always avoid The Mines. The Hotel has an amazing colour scheme and the Outdoors is breathtaking, I remember upgrading my PC and seeing how beautiful The Outdoors were, but the Mines is not that great regarding this. While the developers tried their hardest with adding plant rooms and parts where you could occasionally see the sky, it was still not very good. Now, Doors is a horror game, so a grey colour scheme is not usually a surprise, but doors created their own genre which, impressive as that is it also means that and hour and a half of walking through grey rooms gets boring. But that’s not to say that the mines are bad, that’s just a tiny nitpick, the game was the best it could’ve been. And the reason for that? Fangames. Something that I noticed while playing a castle fangame was that it was plain. Fangames before the Mines were predictable. You’d have a custom rush, then a seek chase like the hotel one, and something with figure. Usually with something slightly different. I’m not saying the games were bad, but when the Mines came out, it was amazing. The minecart plot twist and the introduction of the grumbles were perfect. It was doors but with new content that absolutely fitted. While the fangames all followed the same formula the devs showed that they were able to break that and create a masterpiece. (Of course, all this excludes Mekbok’s the Foundation, which is perfect). When the Outdoors came, it was beyond great. It is easily my favourite part of the game and was super intriguing. But I noticed how big some of the rooms where, they were vast and had bridges and so many places to explore. One of my theories was that the doors devs where testing expansive rooms so that they could add it to the castle. If the fans didn’t like it then they’d make the rooms smaller. But personally, I enjoyed the large rooms so much and in the castle the back-on-back rooms wouldn’t make much sense. Although neither does it with a hotel I dunno. After the Mines was released castle fangames started popping up only to be taken down by the developers, when I learnt of this, I got worried. The devs claimed they took it down because they used assets from the games and it was plagiarism-which is a perfectly good reason, and they have all the rights to do that. But they never seemed to have a problem with it before. Now it’s completely possible that this was the only reason they did that but it’s possible that the Castle’s story might as well be known. The reason the Mines were so good was because it surprised us and still stuck to the original feel of the game. But if the devs were deleting the castle fangames then there’s a chance that the story and possibly gameplay will be underwhelming, as someone who is really excited for the castle’s gameplay and its story this is worrying. LSplash has stated that the castle will not be the end of doors, far from it. He’s hinted that Doors will last to at least 2029. But it might be meaningless if the castle isn’t good enough. So, the big question is… will the Castle update save Doors — or disappoint everyone? Let me know what you think in the comments.
