CHAPTER OCHO <33 NEXT CHAPTER: Not out yet :( PREVIOUS: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1295188388 FIRST: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1290420257 (mild spoilers for the chapter) For anyone who doesn't know anything about mental disorders/illnesses, Dakota has OCD and DID. (He doesn't have either diagnosed, but he kinda self-diagnosed for the OCD and has his suspicions of DID that are expanded on later.) This is why his overthinking process is so unrelatable and irrational. It's not supposed to be rational. OCD is Obsession Compulsion Disorder. Dakota obsesses over the fact he may be causing someone harm. He compulsively asks whether he did something wrong. Once he caves into the compulsion, it makes him feel like asking for forgiveness was necessary, and not irrational, feeding into the obsession once more. DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) Is why he keeps forgetting things, and there are random gaps in his memory. Alters don't share memories. (DID, also known as multiple personality disorder or split personality disorder, is a complex mental health condition caused by severe childhood trauma. It involves the presence of two or more often distinct (though they aren't always very different), alternating identities (alters) and significant memory gaps. It is characterized by severe dissociation.) This is also why I change the colors. All the characters (including his alters) have their own colors, and their own role: EX: Cormac is "The Bad Influence" Maricella is "The Neanderthal" etc, which reflect on how the characters act and see themselves. This is why Dakota has more than one role. (And, yes, he also has more than two alters. Just wait.)
