When you have 15 Energy, go to the "Upgrades" tab and buy a Battery for 15 energy, it adds 0.1 EPS (Energy Per Second) BUT changes your current energy down by 15. Upgrades only show when you have enough of either gas, metal, or energy. So check for a new upgrade regularly!
