soooooo I don't know how to start, but basically my dad just had open heart surgery today (It was successful, dw. he'll be fine) If you wanna read the details, I'll put them in the Notes and Credits, I might remove it later though, just cuz i'm still a little on the fence sharing it. But while he recovers, I'll be staying with my grandparents, and I won't be able to draw while I'm with them. I still have a computer, so I can see and reply to everything, I just can't work on map parts and stuff :)
ok SO *cracks knuckles* This whole thing started in December of 2024. He was perfectly healthy when he kinda just dropped dead suddenly at work. He went into something called "V-fib," which is basically where the heart is still beating, but it's out of sync, so it's not pumping blood and leads to death Luckily, his co-workers gave him CPR for 15 minutes, and then the paramedics used the defibrillator 4 times, and they brought him back with no long-term neurological impact, which is extremely rare Two days later, he had a defibrillator installed inside his chest, just in case it happened again. It can detect his heartbeat, so if there were any anomalies, it would shock him back to life (subtle foreshadowing) It took a long time for him to recover, mostly because of the CPR (that stuff is no joke, that's basically like him getting punched in the chest for 15 minutes straight) And he made a full recovery, but we don't really know what caused it and THEN almost a year later, ON MY BIRTHDAY, MIND YOU, it was just him and me, and he was DRIVING ME SOMEWHERE, we were stopped at a light, and he died again, but the defibrillator shocked him back after 20 seconds, (we started rolling a little bit but he woke up in time to realize and stop) and he literally drove himself to the hospital lmao But anyway, he hasn't had a random episode since, with testing, they did find there was something wrong with one a ventrical in his heart, or something, I'm not sure of the correct terminology. But about 70% of his blood was being regurgitated back into the heart. He's been fine, though, and acts normal; he literally fixed his brakes the other day, so We think that's what could be causing the V-fib, but we're not 100% sure. He just had surgery today to repair it (update: He's doing fine! He took three steps today :D ) (Update 2! He’s back home now! :D I finally live in my house again! ^^)
