Added evolutions are almost like a gimmick from generation 2. They give a new flavour to old pokémon and new ones are released pretty much every generation. We've had a lot of bad and good ones, but what's the best? In this list. I'll be talking about what the top 10 best added evolutions are. keep in mind i wont be discussing regional form evolutions, like galarian corsola to cursola and galarian meowth to perserker. #10. sylveon When I was asked to make this project, I was told to leave the eeveelutions out. I can't do that though because sylveon is definitley one of the best added evolutions. There are only 2 eeveelutions on this list so don't click off just yet. with fairy as its typing its good defensively along with its high defensive and offensive stats. its ability pixilate turns normal moves into fairy moves and gives them a 20% power boost. we've seen quick attack sylveon used to activate the weakness policy on a partner dragon or fighting type, and it's been one of the only good hyper beam users. yes it is probably the 10th best added evolution. #9. farigaraf This is going to be one of many gen 9 pokemon on this list. I love farigaraf. its so cool and i think it's just adorable. also great shiny form. farigaraf is a great example of gen 9 power creep, as it has (almost) made indeedee f obsolete. its got the same typing, similar ability, better movepool. it can be used as a trick room support or even a specs sweeper. ally switch, thunder, uproar, hyper voice, helping hand, trick room, psychic, shadow ball, dazzling gleam. its got it all. that huge movepool is part of its success. its coverage is amazing and its bulky and got good typing. its actually one of my favourite pokémon and is one of the best support mons and I wish I could place it higher. #8. kingdra The evolution of gen 1's seadra, kingdra boats impressive stats with 95 in all offense and defence as well as handy abilities like swift swim and sniper. despite having 95 sp atk and atk, the way that stats grow and it's movepool suggest it to be a poweful special attcker, with draco meteor, weather ball, hydro pump etc. its often seen on rain teams with swift swim, but it's most notable result is Wolfe Glick's tournament winning perish trap team. Water-dragon typing is also some of the best in the game. . Scizor Scyther has one good evolution and it's this one. Scizor is not just good for being a bug type, but is a fantastic pokémon all round. Bug is on its own a terrible type and steel is one of the best types and is the best defensive type, and putting them together is one of the best type combinations, having only one weakness being a 4x weakness to fire. Scizor has seen a lot of play in the past, whether it be choice band-technician-bullet punch/u turn or swords dance set up sweep, scizor has always been a fan favourite even in its mega form which saw some play despite being thought of as one of the worse megas, but it did well despite that. overall, great pokemon, great stats, ability, typing, movepool, great shiny. . Porygon 2 It's quite impressive to make it onto this list, but beating 4 other mons and not even being fully evolved is even more impressive. of course, for its time porygon 2 was a normal pokemon, but the addition of porygon z was a straight buff as it meant porygon 2 was able to hold the eviolite as an already bulky pokemon, meaning its the single best trick room setter as its pretty much not able to be OHKO'd. porygon 2 has actually surpassed cresselia as the top bulky trick room setter, as the eviolite and its easy accesibility means that it is far quicker to get and its bulk is overpowering. porygon 2 has seen many results across the years, but it probably performs best with the number 5 on our list: . Ursaluna In pokémon legends arceus, so many hisuain forms were introduced like hisuian sneasel and basculin, and because they are regional forms I couldn't include sneasler or basculegion on the list as they were introduced at the time of their pre-evolutions, and so weren't allowed on the list. However, the one single pokemon from that game on this list is ursaluna, a phenomenal slow, bulky, extremely hard hitting pokemon. what is there to say. we all know the flame orb guts tera normal facade that OHKOs pretty much everything. Ursaluna is the modern best trick room sweeper, being an extension onto the teddiursa line that is the face of slow, high powerered teams, and of course is the mascot of Five Turns in Trick Room. it pairs phenomenally well with porygon 2, particularly when it has terastalized to flying. I would have loved to place it higher as I love bears(except urshifu) and using it right is so fun. But this is how it goes. (continued in notes and credits)
Read instructions first(its the first 5) #4. Kingambit The rest of the list is pretty gen 9 heavy, just showing the power creep. I do not like kingambit. I really want to put ursaluna ahead of it and actually I'd say it probably should be. the thing that sets the two apart is that kingambits ability defiant means that its not weak to intimidate, something ursaluna struggles with. these two are definitley the closest, the thing being that kingambit takes advantage of tera better as tera flying is so good on it. this is pretty subjective as to 4 and 5, but there is no debating number 3. Before we get into the top 3, we need to talk about the honourable mentions. of course, sneasler and basculegion would do well here but they are evolutions of regional forms. I was asked to include yanmega, but I couldn't justify putting it on as its good but not very good, and certainly not as good as others on this list. hydrapple and dipplin are two more, but specifically dipplin because it can hold the eviolite. hisuain braviery was actually considered but its a regional technically. on with the show. #3. Annihilape what is there to say. scarf final gambit or bulk up drainpunch+rage fist. this pokemon is so good. its super bulky, has an amazing signature move and can only be reliably stopped in low powered formats by hisuain zoraork, which is not a good pokemon. again a shocking example of power creep seeing as 50% of this list(if we count ursaluna) is from gen 9. ape is often paired with maushold for beat up and runs defiant to catch incineroar in the jaw. not only is it great, its genuinely such a fun mon to use and even to the point where it feels balanced to play against. deisign, typing, ability, the pig monkey macabre has it all. #2. Umbreon spoiler alert its the last pokemon on this list that isnt from gen 9. again, im sorry to include an eeveelution but umbreon is the best of them. its also one of the best dark types ever. its one of the worst offensive pokemon on this list with 65 and 60 atk and sp atk. but it has incredible defences. 95 hp 110 def and 130 sp def is higher than miraidon and koraidon. like this thing is mad. not to mention its movepool. toxic, thunder wave, light screen, foul play, snarl, wish. its got it all. i cant get over that bulk though umbreon is ridicuolusly tanky, making it just such a phenomenal pokemon. a lot of people like this mon because its edgy but i love the shiny and the competitive viability. drumrolls please. the number one is... #1. Archaludon The latest addition to the duraladon line, the big arch is just such an incredible pokemon. its one of the only pokemon with the ability stamina, and it can fire off insanely powerful body presses with it. its a staple of rain teams and has seen so much play in the relatively short amount of time its been around. again, archaludon is a pokemon was on Wolfe Glick's famous perish trap team, although its widely agreed that assault vest is the best set. its got some of the best typing in the game and works as a genuinley fantastic offensive pokemon. S+. duraladon was an already good pokemon, and they had to give it a 600 base stat evolution, putting it at the same level as pseudo legendaries, which is just insane. Personally, id love to see a mega for this pokemon like how most 600 bst pokemon get them. it would be cool if it had a rain version of mega sol. thanks so much for reading. a lot of effort goes into these projects with the art, research and writing, so support is always nice. Thanks so much to @EScratchsaurus147 for giving me the idea. as always, drink water and have a great day. stay classy san diego.
