[~HOW TO MANIPULATE INDEPENDENT VARIABLES~] **UPDATE: Some people are really confused and lost. The one thing, the ONLY thing, you need to do is check which settings create the most bubbles. That's it. Light: a) [L] key to raise light level b) [D] key to lower light level Light Colour: a) [0] key for white light b) [1] key for red light c) [2] key for blue light d) [3] key for green light Carbon Dioxide Level: a) [Up Arrow] to raise the carbon dioxide level b] [Down Arrow] to lower the carbon dioxide level Time: a) [SPACE] to reset the timer +++++ [~VOCABULARY~] 1) Photosynthesis: The process in which plants and some bacteria use sunlight, carbon dioxide and water to create energy and oxygen 2) Carbon Dioxide: The waste product that animals, including human beings, create when they exhale air 3) Controlled Variable: The constant variable used to test the accuracy of results 4) Independent/Manipulated Variable: The variable changed in order to change the dependent variable 5) Dependent/Responding Variable: The variable which shows the result of changing the independent variable
**NOTE: Because we've been learning about the more specific and in-depth part of photosynthesis (and cellular respiration) in my HP Bio class, I decided to make this lab online. (Also, I had extra time on my hands, and if I'm bored, I either procrastinate or over-work myself.) It doesn't really do too much, anyways... haha. Also, I technically messed up on the light data but I'm too lazy right now to fix it. FEATURED ON NOVEMBER 26th. [~CHECK OUT THE SCIENCE FAIR~] https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/132834344/ [~GENERAL FACTS~] Photosynthesis takes place within cells (the building blocks of all living things), or, more specifically, the chloroplasts. Chloroplasts are tiny structures inside cells which hold a green pigment -- the reason why leaves are green. In order for a chloroplast to create energy for a plant, the plant must be under light. When we see colours, what we really see is that specific colour 'bouncing' back to us because it cannot be absorbed by the object we are looking at. Because the leaves absorb every other colour but green, green light will slow photosynthesis down. Carbon dioxide is also needed to create energy inside of the leaves. If the carbon dioxide level is low, the production of oxygen will slow down. For this lab, the independent variables you can manipulate are the light, the light colour and the amount of carbon dioxide immersed in the water. The dependent variable is how much oxygen (bubbles) is produced. +++++ [~CREDITS~] Music - "Waiting Around" by DEXTER BRITAIN
