They thought that 2 decades of war with the Dominion would grant them their hard-earned peace… They were wrong. Whatever peace there was, the Gems have cast it away. Seeing what they have done across the Galaxy – harvesting worlds like prey, overwhelming space fleets, and using potent bio weapons – the Caribbean considers them an existential risk to humanity. If they are not put to rest, all of Solar civilisation lies at stake. Hearing rumours of a Gem fleet making for Sol, the Caribbean desperately hinged together a last-ditch attempt to defend the star system. This was to be done under the observance of the Earth Protection Organisation (EPO), a newly established space wing of the Solar League. The Caribbean has called upon every other Earth nation to aid them in this defence. Now is not the time for Earth to fall back on petty squabbles and infighting; only union and co-ordination can save Solar life from extinction. (Please remix and add your own ship positions) The Caribbean has not done much spacefaring and has little experience in interstellar war; thus, its defensive capabilities are limited largely to the inner Solar System, where most of their squadrons have been placed. 1 squadron consists of roughly 5 cruisers, 15 “spearhead ships” and 100 probes. Cruisers are large but slow ships with ample space for proper energy reactors, allowing them to field a potent Yazer blast. They are the heavyweights of the Caribbean fleet, constantly guarded by the other ships, although the formation is not dependent on them and has room for flexibility if they are shot down. Cruisers have the main command facilities on board, with a signal connection to every probe in order to issue instructions. Their reactor size also allows them to project an antimatter shield to keep them insulated from attacks. “Spearhead ships” are small, agile and manoeuvrable spaceships, able to propel themselves in short bursts. Termed the “cavalry of the fleet”, they are well-suited to hit-and-run attacks. They usually mount pressure on the enemy at decisive moments. Should all the cruisers be shot down, the spearhead ships take the helm of command of the probes. Probes are small, autonomous jets which form the bulk of the Caribbean fleet. They are largely undetectable, obscuring their radar pattern & signals by projecting false signals in all directions so as to confuse enemy radar facilities. These would swarm around the opposing ships, firing jets of heavy damage in vulnerable positions such as the engine or wings. The probes also function as scout ships, surveying and plotting the surroundings to detect enemy vessels. As the Gem ships seem to be large and unwieldy, the Caribbean has entrenched a considerable number of its own ships inside the asteroid belts. The Caribbean ships are manoeuvrable and light-weight enough o navigate securely through the asteroid fields; Gem ships, the behemoths they are, may be unable to do so. Should the enemy navigate above or below the asteroid belts, they can still be shot at from it; going within the belt makes them completely exposed to fire from all sides. So, they have no choice but to strike down the Caribbean’s asteroid fleets in order to ever have a chance of taking Sol…
Music: Blue Danube — Richard Strauss Credit to @Marica_games for the scan lines, and for creating the EPO in the OG PU which I revived for nostalgia’s sake. I basically ripped off this project – https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/110904768
