Eager to realise her space ambitions, the Caribbean has set her eyes on Titan and Rhea: two large, resource-rich moons of Saturn ripe for colonisation. Several autonomous research and mining probes have been grounded on both moons to survey the landscape and collect samples; small outposts have been set up on both. Due to the Gem wars, only a light cruiser could be spared to monitor the colonisation and prevent military incursions by other space powers. But the goal here isn’t simply mineral harvesting for short profit, or stringing up a loose base of operations at the frontier of space. It is something greater altogether: the manifestation of a 2nd Earth on Titan. If completed, “Project Krios” (named for one of the titans in Greek mythology) would see the first ever off-world body made fully suitable for human habitation, marking a key watershed in space exploration. Unlike the Dominion, who has established a vast space empire, the Caribbean wishes to localise its colonisation efforts to Sol. With concentrated effort, it could be built up to the richest star system in the Galaxy, capable of fending off and superseding outside threats. Titan has several of the necessary preconditions for the existence of life: its atmospheric composition is mainly of nitrogen, and it even has freshwater and ammonia reserves beneath its surface. The moon is also 80% more massive than Luna, comparing more to a dwarf planet than most other satellites. Its gravity is only 0.138 g0, 10x less than on Earth, which is a large setback to human settlement. Rhea has been similarly claimed, in order to support the terraforming efforts on Titan. It has an abundance of compact ice and freshwater, which could potentially be used to purify Titan’s atmosphere with breathable oxygen and create seas on the moon. Caribbean scientists have given various estimates as to the completion time, ranging from 5 years to half a century. The consensus seems to be roughly a decade, using the technologies, resources and techniques which the Caribbean possesses now. Humanity has taken on countless great labours: the pyramids, the moon landing, and more. This is but another test of its courage and ingenuity. However, all of this is hypothetical as of yet, since Sol is still yet to defeat the Gems and the Carobbean is primarily focusing its attention there. Nonetheless, she asks that other nations respect her sovereignty over these moons.
