Chapter Six I didn't know what to do, what was the voice? What was touching my shoulder? These were the questions that I had racing through my mind. It was freezing down here, I couldn't think of what could be down here in this temperature that could survive, and I then realized that what was touching my shoulder was wet, it felt like water but it was very cold as well. I was now able to confirm that the liquid that I was almost lost in was water. The water was just so cold that it made it unidentifiable to the human touch. I again tried to get up, but failed again, I was exhausted at this point in time. "it's going to be okay" I heard the voice say, it wasn't a voice I recalled ever hearing before which made a chill run down my spine, but this only made me even more cold. I suddenly felt the touch of the cold hand on my shoulder pull me back from staring at the ground, the force in which I was pulled back wasn't forceful or aggressive, but however ever so gentle. I was now lying against the cold rocky wall of the ravine again. I couldn't see anything still but I could feel the presence of this person seemingly being right next to me, I tried to speak but I couldn't get any sound out of my mouth. "Just rest" the voice said, I was going to make a movement away the voice in protest but I decided against it, I had no way to see to escape anyways, so I just sat there. I took this minute to analyze the sound of the voice, the voice didn't sound deep but however a bit high pitch. I couldn't be certain who this person was though, I don't know their intentions or anything about them at all, I thought to myself. But I continued to think, I soon realized that if they did have bad intentions then why haven't they put those into play yet? I'm exhausted and vulnerable sitting here against this cold rough wall, if they wanted to do something to hurt me, I would be powerless to stop them. But they weren't doing any of that, this person was... helping me... It wasn't wasn't a word I heard much, but seeing the actions of this word was even more rare, and yet I was experiencing the consequences of this word. After a few minutes, I had regained a little bit of strength, just enough to open my mouth a speak a few words, "why is your hand wet?" It seemed like a silly question to ask at the time but it seemed like whoever it was wasn't really fazed by the question. "you needed help" the voice replied softly, "you were sinking deep into the water, I heard you fall down here". That was when I realized that this person had saved me from my own demise of a watery grave because.. they wanted to. I also was able to confirm something silly, the voice was definitely belonging to a girl. "Thanks" I managed to reply back, "no need to thank me" The voice replied back to me through the darkness, "is there any way out of this ravine that you know of?" I asked to the mysterious voice. "Yeah there is a way out of the ravine, we can walk along the edge of the river" the voice said. "Umm okay" I sighed a little bit, I then heard the voice reply a little bit concerned, "is there a problem?". I replied "no, it's just... never mind", the voice seemed even more concerned now "what is it?", I didn't know if I should ask the question I was thinking of or not but I decided to ask anyways. "why... why are you helping me?" It seemed like the most irrelevant question to have been asked at that given point in time. I waited for a few seconds, thinking of how dumb of a question it was to be asked. "What do you mean why am I helping you?" The voice said, I knew it was a irrelevant question to ask anyways but yet I still asked it. "Never mind" I had been regaining strength to stand up for the past few minutes, I attempted and successfully was able to stand up. I had to resort to leaning against the cold rock wall slightly to keep balance since my stamina was still a bit low. I'm guessing that whoever it was who was standing I'm assuming next to me had heard me struggling with getting up because I heard them mumble softly, "you okay to walk?", to which I replied with "yeah I'm fine but which way do we go, I can't see anything?" The voice sighed a little bit "I suppose you're right" a few moments past before the voice then said "this should help" I was confused by what was meant by that but I then felt a soft pressure on my shoulder and I realized what that meant. I began to walk slowly along the wall towards the direction which in which they were guiding me. I felt the hand on my shoulder move slightly as the person walked next to me. I felt a bit relieved that I wasn't alone in this dark creepy place all by myself, not to mention that I could have been possibly hundreds of feet down into the surface alone. "So" I began to gather the courage to ask "how did you end up down here?"
