A missing poster for the disappearance of Ian Williams. Arrow keys to look up and down. Nobody cried. Many were shaken up or annoyed, but nobody cried. He had one claim to fame. A little video game. Not many people played it. Those who did were the only ones with the emotions from his death. No new updates, after all. He had only a few family members, most of which the local news got in touch with not even knowing him, or recounting a time when they met him at a family gathering, sitting in the corner, thinking or drawing. The neighbors knew him only as the stranger across the street, who stayed inside almost all day. Records show he had two friends as a teenager, but they disappeared under equally mysterious circumstances. No body was ever found, and no suspects were ever identified. Was it because of the absolute impossibility of the crime, or because no one cared enough to try? Most likely, it was both. Me? I think his disappearance wasn't anything anyone's considered. It wasn't any of the gruesome fates people have come up with for tabloids and overall shock factor. It wasn't any of the crazy theories online. I don't think he died. I don't think he even really disappeared in the first place. The floor plan of the house shows a basement no one else knows exists. I'll be heading there with me and my partner soon to investigate. After all, that's what we do.
