[ TW : mentions of de@th ] Teasellight yawned in the warriors’ den, ready to start a new day. The events of yesterday encouraged a fairly great day, especially since yesterday she had talked to someone for the second time in a while! She and Hawkweedthunder had talked as they hunted for prey, and Teasel had felt a bond form between them. Maybe, just maybe, she could ask the kind warrior if she would be her friend in their conversation today. And maybe she’ll say yes. Oh, this was exciting! Teasel had never had a friend before, and it had been so lonely without one to talk to… Sure, it had been her fault, because she wasn’t really one to socialize with others. But no cat had approached her willing to chat either. Once she had Hawkweedthunder as a friend, surely she wouldn’t be lonely anymore! And yet, something felt wrong. As if the universe had different plans. Shaking this feeling off, Teasel ducked out of the den, not once thinking to glance around the room at the nest. Not once did she notice the cold body in one of the nests. Determined to have a wonderful day, she looked around camp, searching diligently for the cat she would talk to. She was nowhere to be found. { Perhaps she’s hunting near the river again? } Teasel thought, ignoring the shiver of dread that went down her spine. Walking at a hurried pace, she trotted over to the trickling river, the place she had met the warrior. It was as calm and peaceful as ever, but still no sign of Hawkweedthunder. Teasel rushed back to the warriors’ den. { She MUST be still sleeping. What other reason is there? } Peeking into the den, she scanned the nests, relieved to find Hawkweedthunder’s body curled up in her nest. But… upon further examination, Teasel realized… She wasn’t breathing. How was she not breathing? She couldn’t be… de@d, right? { No. No, she couldn’t be! Then I’d be lonely again! } Tears rolled down her cheeks, realizing she would always be lonely. She would never have friends. And if she tried, they would probably d!e, too. Teasel could never attempt to make friends with anyone, not even… Raspberryblaze… Was Raspberryblaze technically her friend? No, she couldn’t think about him right now. Hawkweedthunder was de@d, and thinking about how it affected her was a selfish way to react. But the problem was… she didn’t know how to react. All she could do was lie on the ground, sobbing and mourning the loss of her- no, Hawkweedthunder. Teasel was saddened by the thought that she couldn’t even call Hawkweedthunder her friend, and couldn’t help but feel agonizingly lonely… It felt like she would always be lonely, no matter what she did. And she was beginning to agree.
