While the premise of the story is kept the same as the intro to the storyline (the Paintress erases people year by year) and the city of Lumière is taken directly from the game, the plot of this particular short story is original, as are the characters. Edit: Forgot to mention, but this DOES NOT have spoilers for Clair Obscur. A handful of phrases are taken directly from the game, shown below: “Tomorrow comes.” “For those who come after.” “If you could grow old…would you find a reason to smile?” The rest of the writing is original, though greatly inspired by the original franchise! I’ve also included a few subtle nods to minor things in the game. Léo’s namesake was a part of Expedition 33 (albeit as a minor character), and the place where Jérôme finds Liana, the Crooked Tower, is also the place where Lune and Sciel meet. One sentence from the project version is omitted in the forum version due to the fact that Scratch’s filter doesn’t understand the context for a sentence and therefore flags it- ~ Word count: 1,956 words ~ Credits: Thank you so much to… • Ly (@Random_ballerina) and Starrii (@-starrii-skies-) for critiquing this fan fiction • Tell (@Tellurium_26) for suggesting the name for Mathieu (and thank you, Les Mis for the inspiration for Cosette and Mathieu as well…even if I haven’t read the book yet) • My dad for introducing me to the game • Everyone who has endured my numerous rambles about this game even though I probably am driving you crazy! • Everyone involved in the making of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (I love this game beyond all words, thank you so much) • You for reading!
