i have had absolutely zero time to record so i'm gonna do an article style to see how yall like it! (DISCLAIMER: i will be referring to people as "daughters" as slang to describe an artist who takes heavy influence from an artist that came before them, but this term is said gender neutrally!) thank you to thea (@lychiez) and everyone go stream ocean and prepare for thea's new album #333summer the journiie effect, as i have named it, is the process by which the scratch music community has been influenced by an artist's music there is only one scratch giant who has made this much of an impact with her sound, that being @journiie, but thea is on the brink of becoming the next legend who has the same impact. to illustrate "the journiie effect," i want to talk about journiie's "daughters" and why having "daughters" is indicative of an artist's impact. journiie is one of the largest scratch artists ever, amounting thousands of followers and a dedicated fanbase in the journiiers. her sound is a folksy guitar focused style with vocal harmonies and a spotlight on her story telling. two of the most clear journiie daughters to me are sophia (@SophIIsa) and elle (@Weirdly-Awesome). i know for sure sophia's a journiier and my guess is elle is too but im not actually sure. an example of this is how, sophia specifically, and journiie write lyrics similarly. not just do they have a sonic cohesion and a love for long songs, but the two of them share a route of phrasing that cuts phrases into fleeting thoughts that create a sense of nostalgia and euphoria. in journiie's song "expectation" the line "And it's all about the way it feels right now / pause without a thought of what's allowed" has the same cadence of storytelling as sophia's song "it's over...?" with the line "battling instincts that surround me / urge for a hidden ache" "bUt wHAt DoEs thIS HavE tO Do wItH tHEa?" i hear you asking. thea has managed to do the same thing with her sound, heavily influenced by hyperpop and electronic music, dipping into eurobeat and other genres, thea has influenced a very large artists on scratch that i've noticed. rubie () in particular is an interesting case. while i wouldn't call her a thea daughter, her ep "debris" (review in the works) is very thea daughter behavior, despite her other ep "you and the moon" not resembling thea's stylings. additionally tracks like "night stars" by simon remind me of "finder" and "ocean" (ocean was released after night stars but thats besides the point) (), and horns by me (, im a thea daughter confirmed chat /silly) was guided somewhat by "image." additionally, thea's lyricism, which is very atmospheric and vague but creates a story, is also becoming more popular because of her. the fact of the matter is, while thea does not have any full-fledged "thea daughters," she has created her own unique sound that, no matter what influences she pulls from, makes each song special. the fact that her artistry has moved people to the point of making art because of her is breathtaking. that's the journiie effect. i think, after the release of 333, thea will become full mother-star slay mama status up on the echelon of journiie! thanks for reading, -hart <3 written by: thumb by: pictures: journiie's expectation cover and thea's project cover for the 333 teaser
