She was created in a laboratory as part of a classified experiment meant to produce a living being with unusual adaptability, heightened perception, and stable emotional control. Scientists combined human and non-human traits, carefully shaping her into something that was supposed to be both intelligent and obedient. From the beginning, Kiyoko was different from the other subjects. She was quiet, watchful, and strangely aware. Even as a young prototype, she seemed to understand more than the researchers expected. She rarely reacted violently, rarely cried, and rarely spoke — but she always watched. The glowing markings on her body were one of the experiment’s most unusual results, believed to be tied to her internal energy regulation and emotional state. To the lab staff, Kiyoko was a success on paper — physically stable, responsive, and adaptable. But there was one problem: she was too self-aware. As she grew older, she began to understand that she was being observed, tested, and treated more like an object than a person. She learned routines, memorized voices, and started recognizing which scientists were kind, which were cruel, and which only pretended to care. Though she remained outwardly calm, the isolation slowly shaped her into a withdrawn and emotionally guarded person. There were other experiments besides her, but Kiyoko was the only one considered stable enough to keep alive. Eventually, something happened. It was a containment breach, or a rare act of mercy from one of the researchers and Kiyoko escaped. Since then, she has lived quietly and cautiously, avoiding places where she might be recognized. She doesn’t fully understand the outside world, but she prefers its uncertainty over the cold control of the lab. Kiyoko now lives between fear and freedom — trying to figure out who she is beyond the name the lab gave her.
