Kaufmo’s Downfall: After Ribbit abstracted, Kaufmo blamed Jax for her decline. Jax, in turn, felt intense guilt and isolated himself, causing him to treat the others poorly to keep his distance. Evidence: In the pilot, Jax quickly disappears when seeing Kaufmo's room, which is interpreted as fear or intense sadness rather than apathy. In later episodes, Jax reacts to mentions of Kaufmo with defensive anger.
