✧・゚:* *:・゚✧ hi! ✧・゚:* *:・゚✧ this is my entry for its_aves writing contest. So this is just a story about an 11 year-old girl who becomes an orphan and stays to run her family's farm.
Daisy was six when they moved to Italy and to their little farm. Daisy did not like the fact that she had to move, she had so many friends in Oklahoma. But at least she made new friends; Alice, Emma, Matteo, and Antonio. But her parents died to something called covid-19 and then she had nothing left except the farm, her friends, and her old life in Oklahoma. Daisy would have been so happy to leave Italy when she was six or seven but now she never wanted to go back, even though she missed her old life in Oklahoma, she made too many friends here she couldn't leave anytime soon plus almost all her family did not like her. After she found out that her parents died she ran all the way home as fast as she could and ran into her mom and dads room. She rushed over to the little box, her mom always said that it had everything that Daisy needed if anything were to happen to them. Inside were a key with a flower design on it, a light blue hourglass, and a silver pocket watch. Daisy had no idea what she was going to need them for. Just then a knock at the door echoed thru the whole house. When Daisy opened the door she got tackled with a hug. When everyone pulled away she saw all her friends. "Oh Daisy!" Alice said. "We heard what happened to your parents! We're so sorry." Daisy looked away so they wouldn't see her eyes tearing up. "What are you going to do with the farm?" Matteo asked. "Well I'm not going to sell it, so i'll stay here and run it." Daisy wasn't sure if that was true. What if people come and try to take her away from her farm? What if people try to take her back to Oklahoma? What if she had to run away? What if...there were too many 'what ifs.' "Well if that's the plan then we are staying here with you." Emma said. "What?! Are you crazy?!" Daisy asked. "Umm...one second." Antonio said leading everyone except Daisy away. It took them about five minutes in their little circle to decide what they were going to do. "So we're going to stay." Antonio announced. "Are you sure?" Daisy asked. "Because that might not be the best idea." Daisy had a feeling that if they stayed things could go very bad. "Why? You know that we would never leave you. Even if your house is haunted now your parents are you know..." Emma trailed off when she realized what she was saying. "Sorry, I know how it feels." She said. Wait did Emma just say she knows how it feels? Does she have some secret that she hasn't told us about? She hasn't lost any family members. Wait could her parents be....no, no they couldn't be, could they? They couldn't be dead, they were the nicest people ever. "I know what you're thinking and yes they are," Emma said. "it happened last night in the middle of the night. I didn't even know they had it. They were kinda tired before bed, but I thought that it was the shop, it has been super busy lately. Everyone is buying medicine for that sickness going around. I just wish they took some..." Her voice cracked and her eyes turned glassy. "I think it's been a really long day and we all need sleep." Matteo said. No one could argue with that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TIME SKIP ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A few weeks had passed since they had learned that Emma's parents had passed away, and now...well everybody's parents are...dead. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The end! Please don't be mad at me for that ending I ran out of time. I was half way through when I asked for the extension. If you didn't know already I am busy, I have dance, piano, co-op, drama, and a life group. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but it really feels up the day. But anyways I think this proves that I'm lazy. Don't worry my book isn't going to be like this. Anyway I really hoped you liked this!
