★ LEMONHUG'S TRAINING GUIDE: ★ ༊*·˚ ࿐ Moon 1-2 (apprentice age: 6 moons) Beginner stage: ⚘ First things first is a tour of the territory, along with certain landmarks and how to tell direction. ⚘ The second skill that will be learned is basic tracking, and scenting prey. Len will have the apprentice try to smell and memorize different prey from the prey pile and then take them outside to try and see if they recognize any scents. [Note: Lemmie's best skill in tracking is his nose, however he knows some cats are better at stalking, some are better at hearing prey, and others are speedy, so he will try his best to pinpoint a cat's talent to help shape the learning circculum around their strengths.] ⚘ After pinpointing prey, he will teach basic hunting crouches. Now, with hunting, he typically does partner based hunting, in which a cat drives prey to another. He'll have his apprentice both drive and pounce on prey, and build upon early themes of teamwork. [Note: Other variations to this include blocking the entrance of a prey hole and scaring several prey out, however that will be saved for more advanced lessons. Hunting birds he will find someone else to help him teach that, as Lemon is easily spooked by birds and not very skilled at it.] ⚘ Basic fighting: Fighting is Lemonhug's best skill. He will teach his apprentice how to stay balanced. And maintain energy. These he feels are overlooked skills. If you tire before your enemy, you won't make it. He'll take his apprentice out on morning and night laps around camp occasionally, and practice drills like batting forward at logs, and hopping around as warmups before doing any actual fighting training. ⚘ Again, fighting, like hunting, he will craft around his apprentice's strengths, and luckily has many strategies he's deployed in countless practice fights. (Fun fact, everything he teaches has been something canon he's done in a roleplay thread before) [Note: The strategies in question would be charging forward with overwhelming brute force and going for intimidation and being unpredictable, staring at a cat's ears only to feint and attack their tail, kicking up sand and then attacking.] ༊*·˚ ࿐ Moon 3-4 (apprentice age: 8 moons) Intermediate Stage ⚘ Now the apprentice will learn climbing, and Lemonhug will likely deploy someone to help him teach this since he is an average climber. ⚘ Lemonhug does not really know any specific digging methods and hasn't had to do it, so again, he'd find someone willing to teach this to his apprentice. ⚘ Intermediate Hunting is more advanced, now he will have his apprentice try and locate prey after it rains, or in mud, or near water, or herbs. A strong nose is important. Now if the apprentice hada different strength besides smell then Lemon would change this bit, but it would involve changing terrain and conditions in the weather. ⚘ Fighting will be building on the techniques he taught, and overall his apprentice should have two or three strategies they can deploy in various situations, but one skill set (strength, speed, stealth, using the terrain to one's advantage, etc.) He will practice fights with them and also find cats willing to go against his apprentice, like other apprentices or a warrior. His apprentice will be taught how to identify if an opponent is more speedy or stronger than them and how to quickly decide which strategy/skill in a fight to deploy. ༊*·˚ ࿐ Moon 5-6 (apprentice age: 10 moons) advanced stage ⚘ Advanced hunting, in trees, will be overseen by warriors more comfortable in trees than Lemonhug. And Lemonhug will introduce hunting with a partner or two and going after swarms of prey, such as spooking prey out of a hole while someone waits at the exit and pounces. Advanced fighting, back to back fighting where you fight back to back with a partner. Tucking in your tail, or balancing on forepaws, springing, leaping, balancing unpredictable movements with a string core and balance. Assessments happen this moon. These are personalized. Moon 7-8 (apprentice age: 12 moons) graduation!!
