HE LITERALLY HAS A BATTLE IN UNDERTALE WHERE YOU MAKE ONE CHARACTER SWEATY AND SHIRTLESS SO THAT HIS PARTNER GETS SO H[[ ]]RNY HE CANT SEE STRAIGHT TO CONTINUE THE BATTLE. like. toby is a freak. the fandom is a freak. everybody wins if he gives us spamtenna yk? its near IMPOSSIBLE to argue that it wont, both in Toby logic and in game logic.) then its canonical that tenna is older than spamton if you do the math spamton would've been 19 in 1997 (if you think that his birthday is 1978 ofc) so tenna wouldve probably started as a mentor figure to him like there was so much manipulation in that but it also isn't implied to be the level that I've noticed quite a few people assume it was like a lot of ppl ignore that they were manipulative and focus on their happiness, which is great ofc I love happier spamtenna (and disclaimer this whole rant is mostly MY take on spamtenna and my feelings when I see them portrayed wildly differently than how I would) but some ppl take it to the next level and think they were literally ABUSIVE to each other like physically abusive "I read a fic one time where.." -dazey 2026 (I did) (it was so peak but like) (oof) (spamton was a HORRIBLE person in that,, like HOLY SH--) but to be fair they were like really fked up but I don't think there's ANYTHING in canon that says they were that bad emotionally abusive.. probably mentally abusive definitely possibly a little s*xually.. messed up.. but not abusive ("sweet talk" that's what I mean by messed up I'm not k*nk shaming either of these poor men) idk its just after the newsletter I just hate seeing tenna portrayed as a victim like spamton just wasn't the bad guy before his downfall he did whatever tenna told him to he signed the contract even though he didn't want to, mike didn't want him to, presumably ramb didn't want him to, but since tenna did, he did. I mean hes implied to have KNOWN what would happen or at least knew vaguely that something would happen but their dynamic was so manipulative already that all it took was some "sweet talk" to convince him that it would be fine or at least not that bad like tenna can convince his lover to sign away his entire life by flirting with him?? and the LOVER is the bad one?? huh????? I mean to be fair spamton did absolutely lie to tenna several times or just say smth stupid and not realize so nobody is in the right here like you have to think about it and what Toby has said he compared them to spy vs spy (old comic strip no young deltarune players are gonna get unless they're theorists or have an old timey OBSESSION) (I'm both :D) so they were mutually trying to scam each other but like what with everything in canon I mean they were both not great people but neither of them were horrible tenna just wanted to know how he could remain wealthy, comfortable, and loved by the dreemurs (+presumably also by spamton) spamton just wanted to be successful because he'd been told all his life that he wasn't good enough (one of the addisons calls him "unlucky" because he never got business) (and the other addisons don't seem to like him so there's a pretty good chance he wasn't ever really appreaciated) I mean it really is a tragicomedy because they were so good together but like both of them were lied to and both of them were never satisfied so everything they'd built just... ...came crumbling down. holy melodrama :crine:
