Chapter 1: A shameful fall into popularity My infuriating alarm goes off, at this point I have to get up since it’s already gone off 8 other times. I stumble to the bathroom to find my cat, already waiting for me to turn the tap water on. Her name is Eleanor, named after my mom, who loved cats. My mom passed away when I was like 5 to cancer so I don’t remember much. I turned the rusty faucet on and Eleanor practically crawled into the sink, taking in the cold refreshing water into her little mouth. If I waited any longer for her to finish, I would be late for school. I had to pick her up and shut her out of the bathroom, which she obviously didn’t like, but if I were late to school one more time Mrs. Adiline would assign me a week of detention. Thankfully I wasn’t late for school… that day. Actually I got there sort of early. Before class I had gotten my books from my locker which just happened to be right next to Mckayla Carpeter’s locker as well. She has been the school’s biggest bully since 3rd grade. She pushed Gabriel Timmons, who was the principal's only son, down the stairs at recess and he broke his arm. I have been her target since the first day of Junior year. 3 months of this torture. I learned now that I just have to ignore her. My first period is AP English, my favorite and easiest class. Even when I was little I liked to make poems and write stories. Getting through that class is a breeze. Then there's the second period P.E.,you know that story, dodgeball every single day. A few periods later and soon it’s lunch time. I sit alone at lunch. I haven't always though. I used to have 2 of Thankfully I wasn’t late for school… that day. Actually I got there sort of early. And Two, Maddy, she went missing a few years ago while bike riding in the rain back from my house. My dad went out to look for her but he never came back either. Now, I live with my Grandma in her little house out in the country, which is a putrid walk to school. The school day is easier when people don’t notice you, so I’ve learned to become almost invisible. Unfortunately not invisible enough to avoid Mrs. Belphinstocks, the hall monitor. Everyone knows to avoid her. Heck, one kid even exited the building, walked AROUND the school, and entered through the other side of the building just to avoid her. If she ever caught you even 30 seconds late to class, she would send you straight to the principal's office. I have gotten exactly 7 detention slips, 1 suspension, and over a million office visits, just for taking too long in the bathroom or getting to school a little late. It’s exhausting. After school I meet with the music teacher to practice my piano. There is a short way to the music room, but I like to take the long way. Past the football field where Adrien Simms has football practice every monday at the exact time as my piano practice. I always get a glimpse of him. His gorgeous face and brown fluffy hair. But again when I get a glimpse of him he’s always talking to Mckayla, his girlfriend. Ugh, even thinking about it makes me feel sick. How could the kindest, smartest, most perfect guy in school end up with her, a pathetic bully with the personality of a rat. Usually I just walk by the football field but today Adrien isn’t with Mckayla at all. This gave me the confidence to go talk to him. I’ve never talked to him before so I plan what I say as quickly as I walk. “Hey Adrien, how you doing?” No, that's stupid. “Whats up” eww, what am I a rapper. Ok I’ll just say hi and call it a day. I walk on the side lines towards the bench where he’s getting water; but out of nowhere a football comes flying and hits me right in the head. I nearly black out trying not to fall on the ground. Unfortunately that did nothing and on to the ground I fell. All the football boys were pointing and laughing. “Holy cow” shouted Elis. Boys bulled out their phone recording me falling. Sent straight to the school group chat I’m sure. Or even worse, TikTok. This feels like a dream. I wish. that was the day I became the most popular girl in school, and not in a good way.
Working on chapter 2 now It'll probs be out in a few days.
