[ALL BELOW WAS WRITTEN BY @random_person-2] (TW sensitive topics) Ear cropping and tail docking are two cosmetic¹ procedures done on [in this case, but many others,] dogs, where the ears are cut to half lentgh, and the tail is cut to a nub. Whether or not there are benefits, little research has been done. There is, however, a good sum of research which reveals many negative affects of these two procedures. It is, by many animal welfare organisations, considered cruel mutilation². negative affects: worsened hearing poor back/spine support (docking) poor communication w/ other dogs negative perception of dog AND owner infection general pain these were all sourced from relevant, to date, and reliable sources. I'll add more info later. I know this is a sensitive topic, but such things will never get solved if people stay quiet. Also, I fear I may upset some doberman or bully owners. The reasons you have for doing this are not my business, but please know that your opinion is not coming from background knowledge of animal cruelty and welfare, nor a professional organisation, but entirely personal. Yes, it's your dog. Tell me this, though: would you do the same to your child? All animals think, and feel, and breathe, just like us. They aren't accessories. (and yes, it does hurt. it used to [and still is, by some,] be done with shears and no medicine. now medicine is given, but this only temporarily numbs the pain) ¹ affecting only the appearance of something rather than its substance ²the infliction of a severe and disfiguring injury #StopTheCrop #FlopNotCrop #EndAnimalCruelty #AnimalsArentAccessories
