They were mainly marketed as tractors, with a wide variety of farm equipment available for it, but many GIs returning home knew the real potential of the Jeep as an off-road vehicle from their time overseas, and they used their experience and the CJ-2's immense capability to blaze many of the off-road trails still used to this day, notably the infamous Rubicon trail, for which the most capable trim level of Wrangler is named. This particular subject is owned by a family friend of mine, a mostly original 1946 model, that is being restored to road (and trail) worthy condition. The picture this drawing is based on is of it leaving his shop for the first time under it's own power and fully assembled.
