CH 7 Percy Percy whirled around, his hand already holding Riptide in a defensive position. The chimera hadn't been too bad compared to her monsters he had faced- although that might be because he had faced Tartarus, Kronos, and the literal earth, not necessarily because the chimera was easy- so he assumed they must have been worse coming. He wondered what it would be this time. A minor god they had disrespected? With how his life had gone so far, he probably had plenty of enemies, so the possibilities were endless. However, when Percy saw the mysterious voice, the person didn't have the radiance of godliness and arrogance most gods had. It almost seemed like- "Are you a half-blood?" Percy asked, at the same time Sophie asked: "Are you an elf?" The person rolled their eyes. They were wearing a dark red, almost black tunic, a half cape, and no family crest. Their face was obscured except for the eyes, but Percy couldn't figure out why. It almost seemed as if the shadows gathered around it, shading it from anyone's view. The thing that was the most shocking, though, was the bright, electric-looking field around them, as a dome, shielding them from anyone. Percy didn't want to find out what would happen if he touched that force field. “Hello, Children. I hoped to dispose of you and not have to deal with this interaction. Talking to people can be exhausting (guys me core-) But yes, I am.” “Half-blood or elf?” asked Annabeth suspiciously, grip tightening on her dagger. “Both. Neither. Does it matter?” they asked, laughing sourly. “Yeah, kind of,” said Keefe. “Quiet, boy,” said the elf or halfblood or neither. Shadows started to creep toward Keefe. Freaky. “Hey!” said Keefe, “Please get your shadows away from me, I’m not fond of them.” “/Shade/,” whispered Sophie to Percy and Annbeth, suddenly between them. “What?” whispered Annabeth back. “They control shadows,” She clarified “Or child of Hades,” challenged Annabeth “Nico’s going to be annoyed with someone stealing his look,” whispered Percy “I can hear you!” shouted the half-blood/elf/niether. “Then you heard it when Keefe said it mattered what you are. Explain,” said Percy, annoyed by this person. Who did they think they were? He and Annabeth were finally going to have a peaceful summer, and there just had to be another prophecy to ruin it. Where were the fates even finding all these people that wanted him dead? Was there a sale at Villans R Us? They smiled. “Sure. I don’t want to fight you /now/, but your shadows are blocking my light to leave, and I assume you won’t move until I explain. I am an experiment, I suppose you would call it.” “An experiment?” Annabeth asked, looking shocked. “Yes. An experiment. The gods and the council created me, named me Peírama, and then abandoned me when they realized they had no control over me. I am a half-blood. I am an elf. I am incomplete.” /Shocker./ Another kid screwed over by the gods. “I had /beautiful/ plans in which I would essentially overthrow both Olympus and the Lost Cities, but a few years ago, you four arose, and proved to be a bit of an obstacle. I see I underestimated you, however. The young one was easily overpowered.” “He was scared!” snapped Keefe. “You are the one who killed him.” “Aww,” said Peírama patronizingly, “The poor empath, cursed to /feel/.” “Let’s get back to the part where you tried to kill us, please,” interrupted Percy. “What more do you want me to say? I am a failed experiment. I want justice for myself. I have built my plans, and you threaten them, so you must be removed.” They shrugged innocently, “I’m sure you understand.” “I understand we are being threatened,” said Annabeth angrily. “Listen, I don’t know how long you have been planning this- and don’t care either- but we’ve saved the world twice, and I really don’t want to do it again. Let’s pretend we never met, and we can just move on.” “Nice try,” laughed Peírama, “but you can’t get rid of me /that/ easily. But due to the fact that you can’t reach me in my force field, and I am not about to let it down because you all look ready to m v r d 3 r (srry, bad word detector-) me, I’m going to ask you kindly to step out of my way so I can light leap out of here.” “Light leap?” asked Percy quizically. “Form of travel using sun or star light and crystals,” clarified Sophie, “And why would we let you go?” Peírama sighed, appearing exasperated, “Because,” they said slowly as if explaining things to a toddler, “You. Can’t. Hurt. Me. I. Already. Told. You. Who. I. Am. What else do you hope to accomplish?” Sophie glanced at the others, “What do you guys think?” “I’m ready to get the creepy person out of here,” said Keefe. “As much as I hate to say it, they are right. The only way we can actually move on is to let them go,” sighed Annabeth, "We can investigate more at camp and figure out how to stop them then." (cont in notes bc its too long >:()
“Are we all in agreement?” asked Percy, “because I’m pretty sure I'm the one blocking their sunlight or whatever.” “Go ahead,” said Sophie. Percy moved out of the way, and Peírama disappeared in a glimmer of light once the ray Percy had been shadowing reached her. also guys, not to be that girl, but if you liked it, pls remember to <3 and star bc a lot of people are on the ping list for this, but arnt <3ing and staring, and that rlly is a nice way to support me. tysm!
