I was never meant to be here. Who am I now I know this? I don’t understand why this has happened to me. My name is Olive Santiago. I was running. Running away from something dangerous. A creature. A mythical beast. A basilisk. A giant snake that has poisonous fangs if they bite you. I’m running up a hill. My mother told me to run this way and they will take care of me. I didn’t know who they were. I know my mother sacrificed herself to save me. I made it to a tree catching my breath. The basilisk had caught up. I dug through my pocket to see if there was anything. Anything at all I could use. I picked out a pendant that my dad had left me. Curse him. I don’t even know him! I clasped the pendant in my palms and then threw it at the basilisk. I didn’t know how but the basilisk crumbled into ash and my pendant was replaced by a sword. I stumbled backwards as the sword came flying into my hand. “Hello, Olive. We’ve been expecting you”. I whipped my head around and saw a centaur. “Who are you and how do you know me?” I said quickly. The centaur chuckled. “Follow me Olive. I will tell you everything”. The centaurs name was Chiron. I was at Camp Half Blood. They called me a demigod. A half human. Half god? I didn’t understand. Chiron called over a guy in red armour with a spear over. “Olive this is Carter. Carter this is Olive. Please give her a tour of the area. I’ve got to attend a meeting with Mr D”. Carter nodded to Chiron who trotted away. “Nice to meet you Olive” Carter said. I got a tour of the whole area. The training arena. The cabins. The dining pavilion. Carter had to go to sword practice so he called someone from Athena Cabin over. “Ethan, can you show Olive around to Hermes Cabin?” Carter asked. “Claimed or Unclaimed?” Ethan asked. “Unclaimed” Carter said running away. “Hi, I’m Ethan Hunt. Welcome to Camp Half Blood”. We shook hands. He showed me to Hermes cabin and every single person groaned. “Why is it always our cabin?” said a guy called Hendrix Kent. “We always keep getting unclaimed!” I think everyone in Hermes didn’t like me there. I didn’t have the best sleep that night.
