➽ Chapter 3 ★ Tess POV TW - Light mention of war There, sitting beneath the cover, is a small little room with a ladder hanging at the top, leading down. My curiosity overcomes me, and I leap down, too excited to even use the ladder. I look around, and I observe a little sign propped against a (hand-made?) desk with fake vines hanging off of it, reading, 'The Therians' Den'. It looks as though the sign's a large piece of wood, the words carved into it. On the wall, there's messy, colorful drawings of pawprints and names. I assume they used berry juice, since some markings were a bit smudged or drippy. Clever..! I shiver with exhilaration, knowing this was just like in the stories. I drop down to a quadrobics position and trotted along the floor, but I have to stop after a few seconds, the tiring activity finally reminding me I'm tired from running all the way here. I see another room, with a large, soft looking green carpet with a Theta Delta in the center. "Whew, I wonder if...Juniper ran...this much...." I gasp, collapsing onto a teal couch on the back wall. It looks slightly dark, but I spot a light switch in the corner. I flick it on, and immediately, a warm golden light fills the room. I chug a few more gulps of my waterbottle, still clutched firmly in my hand. Then I hop up from the couch, determined to explore more. Next to the couch is a cute, painted toy chest, and I scamper over to it, lifting it open. Inside is not toys, but a single, turquoise leather journal. My breath catches in my throat. This is sure to have information on this place! I lift open the cover to the first page... "So this is quite the nice place.", it says. "Yes, it definitely needs some fixing up, after all, it's sooo old, probably a military base from the long, LONG ago wars." So THAT's what it was! "This can be a safe place for all therians, and enjoyable too! Right in the middle of this gorgeous forest. Robin and Oak are setting up the Meetingplace, and I gathered berry juices for everyone to write their name on the wall. I know it's bad that they aren't going to school, but it becomes unbearable at times. They need somewhere to stay when they...just can't for a bit. I'm the Alpha of it all...And I'll be a good one. Just like in wolf packs. The mother, the creator, the overseer, the caretaker...Finally, a safe place to stay. A den for all, forever. I'll talk to the principal about it..." I shut the book, my heart trembling in excitement. Just a page is all I need. The place I discovered... It could help so many therians who need a break from the people who don't get it. They can be with their one kind who understands it. I need to tell Juniper. First: Previous: Next: not yet
