Just answer the question with a yes or anything else. it just senses for a "yes" because nothing will happen if the answer is no. It also goes on forever even if you press the stop button a lot of times.
It has A.M./P.M.!!! You can also change it to not have A.M./P.M. and be (I think it's called) military time where it goes from 1:00 all the way to 24:59.
