“My Time” - Minnowsong DRP ((Tw: death, grief, sickness)) Minnow knew what was going to happen, she’d known it for a while. She’d felt her body winding down as she grew older, but that didn’t make this any easier to bear. She lay curled in her nest, both shivering and burning. She wouldn’t call her kits. They didn’t need to see her like this. Her kits…she wouldn’t see them become beautiful warriors! Wouldn’t be able to guide them. “I’m sorry,” she murmured to the dark den. “I’m sorry this had to happen. But it’s my time.” Using the last of her strength, Minnow carefully unwound the willow wrap from her leg, and the fish scales from her pelt. Her kittens could keep them. Exhausted, Minnow curled around the blue flower that had fallen from her pelt when she’d undone the wrap. Songbirdspirit…I’m coming now. Her eyes too heavy to keep open, Minnow closed them, letting the heaviness set in. She was going to see them all now. It meant leaving those she loved behind, but she’d see them again. And Canarypaw! She’d see her beloved kit again, and her father, and her siblings. It was her time. Minnow exhaled deeply, and let darkness overtake her.
I’m genuinely pretty sad, but I’m exited to move on to my next cat, Eternalkit.
