☆ Millie here to answer questions! >:3 ☆ ☆ Below is a survey of 15 questions that relate to voice acting. It’d be appreciated if you remixed this project with your answers! If there’s questions you don’t want to answer, that’s fine! ☆ ❀ Q - (Not part of the survey) Would you like your answers to be credited (if so, to what username?) or would you like to remain anonymous? ❀ A - I don't mind if you want to use my answers without credit, but if you want to credit me, my user is @Millie_VA! ❀ Q - How long have you been voice acting? ❀ A - A little over a year ago was my first ever audition, but my first big job was.. I wanna say, 6 months ago? ❀ Q - How do you most frequently find a series to audition for? ❀ A - Usually, I'm asked. But I go to VA studios, and find people needing voice actors! :D ❀ Q - What makes you choose to click a casting call? ❀ A - If it sounds like something I enjoy, or I have a specific skill set that makes me think I'll get a character, that's typically how I choose what to audition for! (Or I'm asked lol) ❀ Q - After viewing a casting call, what makes you decide whether or not you want to audition for it? ❀ A - If there are no topics and/or inappropriate things I wouldn't be comfortable with, I'll usually audition for it! (And if I have time, which I usually do. ;3) ❀ Q - What is something (or multiple things) that will make you immediately choose not to audition for something? ❀ A - As I said before, inappropriate content, and I'm not super comfortable with playing LGBTQ characters (no hate to anyone! <3), but I don't typically mind if they're in the project itself. (again, no hate to anyone! That's just what I'm comfortable with. :3) ❀ Q - What component(s) make a casting call high quality? ❀ A - When the characters have a personality bio, making it a lot easier to come up with a voice! And if they have an age and a voice range. (ex. 16, high-medium voice. :P) And when there's character art! ❀ Q - What do you like to know about a series you’re considering auditioning for? ❀ A - I'll usually look at how many characters there are, when I need to have voice lines out by, and who the characters are. I also usually like to know the storyline of the thing I'm auditioning for to make it easier to come up with a voice! ❀ Q - Do you like to have a visual of the characters? ❀ A - Yessss I love all the art! <3 ❀ Q - What is important to include in a character’s voice description? ❀ A - I think their age is super important. You don't want a 12-year-old-sounding voice for a 40-year-old woman! And a typical voice range is super helpful! Like, medium, high, or low! ❀ Q - What’s your favorite kind of character to voice act or audition for? ❀ A - I'm an impressionist, so any characters from Glitch, or a series I've seen is always super duper fun!! But I typically go for characters with higher voices. (While I can go low, I like doing high voices js because it's fun. :3) ❀ Q - What should a casting call include? ❀ A - What I look for is: 1: character art. It helps a lot more with coming up with a voice than you'd think! 2: ages! They're awesome for the characters. 3: Voice ranges. Also very helpful. 4: a CLEAR deadline. If I don't have one, I might push it to the "Less important:" category in the lines I need to record, so I can make the deadlines for other things I have. 5: I really like it when there's a ping list, so that you actually know when results come out! 6: A form. Usually with things like "Are you okay with _____ topic?" Or "Will you be able to record around ____ lines within ____ time frame?" is a great example! Her Mystery Museum project has an AMAZING casting call! ❀ Q - What do you want to know about the character(s) you’re auditioning for? ❀ A - (sorry I'm being so repetitive- T^T) I like to know their backstory, their role in the story, age, and voice range! :3 ❀ Q - Is it important for a casting call to be high quality and why or why not? ❀ A - I think so! It makes it easier for both you and the voice actors! It gives them a clear date, a clear idea of the voice, and higher quality catches attention! ❀ Q - What is the best way for a series creator to give you lines you need to record? ❀ A - When they have the lines in the project, it makes it easier. For auditions, at least. For actual lines, I'm cool with whatever, so whatever is easiest for the creator is how I roll! Whether it's a project with lines, or they put it on my profile, etc. You're the boss, not me! :D ❀ Q - What would you want the creator of a series to know about when it comes to VAs? ❀ A - The biggest thing about VAs is that if your project is popular, it's going to be hard to choose. Don't tell anyone they're bad, or it could make them feel really awful. Believe me, I know. >-< We all try our hardest for you! Be kind to VAs. And don't feel nervous to ask for a re-record, we'll do what we can to make what you envision come to life. <3
