Ash had never been there before in her whole 28 moons of life, so she supposed she could go explore it today. But as she walked on, her pace slowed. Her paws felt heavy and the medicine on her wounds had worn off. She was losing blood. She was far away from home near the lake though, so she just hoped to stay near the twolegplace for the night. She'd be back home to her kits and mate in no time, she told herself. In fact, she already heard the distinctive mewling of kittens... wait, that can't be right. She followed the sound to find a damp cardboard box on the side of the road. It reeked of monsters, and she propped herself up to peer into it. A white kit and an orange tabby kitten were shivering inside, no parents or owners in sight. Without thinking, Ash picked up them both, determined to get them out of there. She licked their small bodies dry, and began on her way back home immediately. Yet, after only traveling a few fox lengths, she collapsed. The pain in her wound was even worse than ever. The kits would starve if they didn't get food tonight. She couldn't protect these kits forever, not by herself. She screamed for help. She wrapped herself around the kits, her final offering. She began growing numb, getting that same feeling that one night she'd seen the kit from the red haze. Yet, this time there was no who could rescue her. She didn't live to see who would find the kits or take them home. ❝ Mama, how 'bout when I die? She loves her kits, but will put their safety and teaching them before affection. She cannot physically intervene in their lives since she is dead, but she will always be watching. She has an overall authoritarian parenting style. She will try and be present in their lives, but will gravitate more towards faer own kits. They believe that because their mother left to be a loner, they should be able to choose as well, and will support them no matter what, though she might not always appear that way. More in N + C
