Og idea Same concept as the spoon theory, an analogy to explain seemingly spontaneous things. So what is it? It’s an analogy I came up with in a car. Does that help? Absolutely not. The swimming pool theory (tspt) is something i came up with. Imagine every skill you will ever learn is an infinitely long swimming pool, and each thing you learn or “pick up” is one of those pool ring sinking toy things. But the thing is, there are certain ones heavier than others. At some points in the pool there may be a lot of these rings, but in other spots, basically zero. There’s bad rings too. Ones that weigh you down. Maybe you don’t notice them until the water gets deeper. But to remove them is hard. Let’s say you put each ring on your arm. A heavy ring you just picked up is easy to remove, but ones farther up your arm are harder. You may have to remove better rings first. People who choose to be content and not move from their spot in any kind of pool will be just fine. But these pools are infinitely long, remember? There’s always more to learn. The only way to get better is to proceed. Let’s use an example: art! Maybe in the beginning you try picking up humans, but it’s a bit too heavy for you. You keep going and find still life. That one feels right to you. As you proceed, you might find humans again and discover that you can properly hold it now. Maybe you find a different shading method. Maybe you have to remove something. Ai in this analogy would be a boat. You get further, but you end up in the deep end if you will, No rings to help you. And that’s the swimming pool theory!! I really like it ngl >.< -
