☆ I’m working on a project that is meant to guide series creators on how to find and manage voice actors. I’m not a VA myself, so I would like some information from that perspective! ☆ ☆ Below is a survey of 15 questions that relate to voice acting. It’d be appreciated if you remixed this project with your answers! If there’s questions you don’t want to answer, that’s fine! ☆ ❀ Q - (Not part of the survey) Would you like your answers to be credited (if so, to what username?) or would you like to remain anonymous? ❀ A - Yup! My username is @MegaLordSans1234 . ❀ Q - How long have you been voice acting? ❀ A - Over a year. ❀ Q - How do you most frequently find a series to audition for? ❀ A - There are voice acting studios where auditions can be posted for anyone to voice act, and I also look at other voice actors, and sign up for the auditions they signed up for as well. ❀ Q - What makes you choose to click a casting call? ❀ A - Sometimes, there will be invites in my chat, but most of the time, I would look for casting calls with suitable roles available for auditioning. ❀ Q - After viewing a casting call, what makes you decide whether or not you want to audition for it? ❀ A - I would normally look for any male role to audition for, because my range is actually quite wide. Although, there was one time I had a role for a female character...... ❀ Q - What is something (or multiple things) that will make you immediately choose not to audition for something? ❀ A - Apparently, I have not encountered that kind of a situation before, so normally, I would audition for any kind of voice acting call. ❀ Q - What component(s) make a casting call high quality? ❀ A - A good mic with little background noise, and a matching voice that suits each character one auditions for. ❀ Q - What do you like to know about a series you’re considering auditioning for? ❀ A - I do not usually ask much, but I might ask for how the art style is drawn. ❀ Q - Do you like to have a visual of the characters? ❀ A - Yup, but I am okay if there is none. ❀ Q - What is important to include in a character’s voice description? ❀ A - The personality of a character will determine how the character would be expressing most of the time, and also the type of voice needed for the character will determine which voice actor is suited for which character. ❀ Q - What’s your favorite kind of character to voice act or audition for? ❀ A - Villains, and sometimes innocent characters. ❀ Q - What should a casting call include? ❀ A - Characters, with specific voice ranges, a story to tell the voice actors what they are auditioning for, and maybe a form for the owner to know when they are able to receive all the lines of all characters. ❀ Q - What do you want to know about the character(s) you’re auditioning for? ❀ A - How they would sound like, and what expression each line should feel like. ❀ Q - Is it important for a casting call to be high quality and why or why not? ❀ A - It is recommended to do so, since background noise can ruin the project when characters are talking. ❀ Q - What is the best way for a series creator to give you lines you need to record? ❀ A - Send a link to the project where actors will record their lines. It is preferred if the owner shares the link to the voice actors' chats, but if comments are disabled in the comments, find a chatroom or recent project to send the lines, so that the actors can be notified through their "Messages" in Scratch. ❀ Q - What would you want the creator of a series to know about when it comes to VAs? ❀ A - How committed the voice actors are towards the series they are voice acting in. ☆ That’s all the questions, thank you so much for doing this survey! ☆
