Exhaustion. The air hummed as it ran against the walls of the room. "He did not!" A young woman giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. "Yeah, and that ain't even the worst part!" A young man, around the woman's age, smirked. They really did love to gossip, those two. "Valine, you good?" The man, Dante, turned to me. I blinked, my train of thoughts halting. "Hm..?" I muttered, crossing my arms. "Yeah, I just..." I gave a tired sigh. "..haven't been sleepin' much..." The woman, Dakota, rolled her eyes. "Valine, you should get some rest, so what if you miss a few classes? You'll miss your diploma if you keep slackin' off like this, girl." She said, a hint of concern in her voice. "Shortie's right. I can fake a nurse's note, if ya want?" He said. "Nah, I'll get one myself.." I yawned, leaning back on the wall. "Whatever ya' say, Val. Just..get some sleep, kay?" Dakota said, sliding her bag onto her back. "Yeah, yeah.." My steps echoed across the pavement, my back aching as my bag rested on it. I've gotten like, what, 3 hours of sleep? Hm, that's a new record. Something caught my leg, and I tripped, and fell face flat onto the floor. Yellow blaring lights blinded me. I winced, I hated the light, no wonder the lights in my room were always off.. I lifted my weary face from the floor, my head throbbing with exhaustion and pain, and what I saw wasn't the street anymore. It was a blaring yellow hallway. "...What the..." I muttered, barely a whisper against the ominous humming of the overhead lights. My breaths echoed through the hallways, the only sound despite the humming of the lights and the faint gush of wind every moment. My head couldn't wrap around what happened. It was an endless yellow hallway, marked with a door at the end. 「 . . ? 」 Chapter 2. Restraint. The silence wrapped around the halls like a silent mercenary, watching my every move, wrapping its claws around my neck. Faint static creeped into my ears. I paused, oh come on, I've seen this before in horror movies. Easy pass. I kept walking, despite the clear trembling in my boots. A guttural growl whispered into my ear. Not a chance. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Don't look back. Don't look back... I kept my black tired eyes on the door ahead of me, and kept walking. The growl finally dissipated, yet I didn't feel relief. Not the slightest bit of it. The door loomed over me, and I reached out to grab the handle, pausing mid way. What if something behind it was going to kill me? Or what if it's the exit..? Ah... what now..? ......... ! Chapter 3. Disgust. Light blinded me. My eyes widened as my hand reached to clamp over my mouth before I doubled over in disgust. My breath caught and threatened to escape as I felt bile rise up my throat. my mind started to Hurt from the mEre witnessing of whatever stood before myseLf. whatever Putrid thing that was. I couldn't unsee whatever horror had entered my mind and refused to escape. I stepped back once. Twice. Turned. And ran for my life. ????!?!??!!??!?
