GUYS. I missed making comics so much omg and making them in the actual format they’re supposed to be in… I’m so happy. Like I love love drawing but I’m truly a storyteller at heart so I’m really glad to be back at it. And like specifically you can write a story with a lot of meaning on paper but it’s not the same as when it’s fully realized. Being able to make the characters interact and discover the nuances to the way they act is so much fun— and drawing it is really like the cherry on the cake. Like I love novels but if I write for my characters it’s never the full joy I get out of drawing them. I love it. I love Daffodil too. I have not been able to draw a lot of scenes yet so this feeling might change as time goes on but his and Sunflower’s introduction have been my favorite yet. Also came across my first challenge that comes with skipping to making the comic— I had to finalize Sunflower’s design as I was drawing. Technically I had to do the same with Daffodil but that wasn’t to the extent that I had to deal with Sunflower. I did not have the color keys to go off of because when I was doing them she was a way different character visually. And also a man. Idk how I feel about her yet, she’s probably going to be one of those characters to be fully realized as I draw the comic. Also I am taking a lot of inspiration for the visuals from a specific comic (Laikas Comet) and I’ve been referencing back to its pages when I’ve been stuck. I think that comics visual style may be my favorite of all time. But yeah that was it I just wanted to yap about my lovelies.
