this is off a true story: in ww1,1915 august 6th,a German army group attacks a Russian devensive area,called Osowiec Fortress.On that day,the Germans realsed the new deadly weapon called a gas attack.Many Russians perished,but some surived by using cloaks around their noses.Because of this,they manged to counterattack the Germans unexpectedly by the leading commander Władysław Strzemiński(after Lieutenant Kotlinsky's death)and manged to protect their homeland. NOTE! because of Władysław Strzemiński's victory,the attack of the Osowiec Fortress was protected for a while,as the Russians had only about 60 men,while the Germans had way more men.
