Hello. This is the first retake of the M. Pastas (Scratch tweaks out when i say his name, so i will just call him "M." Now). To be specific, His "Mappy.exe" pasta i have saw Some years ago. Hope you enjoy it. Have you ever heard of The mappy Commodore 64 port? No? Well. It does make sense, as only the most Veteran Namco fans and Computer nerds Know this Urban legend.. Lets go back in time to 1986. Zachary Coburn was a Man who loved the Computer industry, he Thought it would be the future of Entretainment systems. His favourite, of course. It would be the Commodore 64. Despite it being old timey for some of the time Standards (Example: Graphics, User interface, Etcetera). He felt a certain magic on those Mute-coloured pixels, But he felt the game catalouge Was missing something. That something, for him. It would fit Perfectly on the catalouge, But it was hard to find which Exactly. First, he thought of The donkey kong game, But then he remembered it was Already there. So then he thought of a Pinball game. But for him, it was very basic.. After some hours of Investigation. He got the "perfect" game. The arcade classic; Mappy. But, of course: He couldnt do his port Alone. So he invited Two of his friends to make his Dream port. Andrew Trammer and Ian Phillips. Andrew would be in charge of soundtrack making, Zachary in Game testing. And ian being the Progammer. So they went to work on the game. After 2 Weeks of hard work. The game was done. But there was a notorious Issue: No matter what changes they make. The game was Running slower than expected. So they went into the game´s code and they saw The issue: A big wall of At signs was Overheating the Commodore. When they showed it to Ian, He said he did not remember typing that. Zachary tested the game again, but he said it kept Running slow. Even, he mentioned the game Looked And sounded like that in any moment; It would set on fire. And again, Andrew inspected the code. And, To surprise of him. There was another Wall of At Signs. But when he kept inspecting. There were TWO more of those At signs. When he asked Ian about it. He exclamated that He did not remember typing that, Adding: "You really would think, That in these Two weeks of hard work, Adapting to Commodore´s standards, I would add A LOAD OF STUPID AT SIGNS?!"... This conversation ended up on Zachary arguing with Ian, making him quit the team. Saying that he needed to "Meditate about it". These last days for Andrew and Zachary werent the best. Even one day They thought of Cancelling the project Despite all the passion They put into it. Zachary went to the mailbox of his home. And, he saw it.. The straw that broke the camel´s back: Lawsuit from Namco. After all, this project Wasnt official. So he was in Serious trouble, It was even considered a "Bootleg" by Namco themselves. In the letter, it read that the Judgement would start in December from that year. It didnt specify a date. But it didnt look like some prank made by some Unhappy person who wanted to ruin His day. Long story made short, Namco won the Lawsuit. Zachary had to pay a high bill of 3 Thousand dollars and Nothing interesing about his Life was heard again... Here is where the story must end, right? A man with dreams. A passionate project. And a Conflict which makes those Dreams break in pieces. But, No. This isnt where it ends.. 21 Years later. On a █Chan forum. A anonymous user posted the next: "Guys, i realized something: These might look like Some random walls of code.. But, If you combine them with your mind.. YEP, ITS A DANG HUMAN FACE (Or, well. atleast what i see) If you see something else, feel free to reply me!" People on the forum also realized this. Some people were Simply amazed, some said He is just some guy who Is trying to make what people call nowadays a ARG, and others took it with humour. Making the image a "Guess the Shape" game. But a comment also posted a Similar image, This time, Making it seem like a Young woman´s face. When people asked them where did they got the image from. They said they remember taking them from a Nerd´s website. 8 Years later. The case would revive Thanks to a Admin on a Namco fan-blog, Thus as a Daily fun fact. The admin commented the next: "daily fun fact: there is a supossed fan port of mappy from the 86, this specifically being a commodore 64 port, though. i heard it was HAUNTED... would you dare to play this weird port? feel free to reply!" This one admin was the one who started the idea that the game was Actually haunted by two teenagers who wanted to pull Pranks on people who least expected it. Which was before a story of a man with broken dreams, was now distorted to a story of a Supossedly "haunted" port of the Namco classic. Eventually, the game became its Niche creepypasta. Namco fans treated it as their own "Sonic.exe"... (Part 2 below)
Eventually. other people who werent Namco fans found the opportunity to make Spam chains of the supossed "Leaked link" of the game. Which was actually a link to a Spyware website disguised as the Commodore 64 port. Those spam chains were mostly the kind of "If you dont send this to 5 people you will be Haunted by these ghosts forever". And the supossed "Faces" on the code didnt help anything. Some people beacuse of that called the case "The face of Mappy" due to its Similarity to an ARG named "The face of God". The case was still niche, of course. But had a decently high number of Believers. If you wanted to search mappy on those times. Good luck, beacuse your results would be flooded with The mappy commodore port. Everything seemed to become an absolute chaos, until New years eve. Suddenly, everyone forgot about the Mappy commodore port. Just like someone just Brainwashed them. No one talked about the Mappy commodore port, Until this year.. Someone in the lost media Subreddit posted the next: "I think i just found THE mappy website. While i was messing around with links on the wayback machine. I found something that just left me Flabbergasted.. It was a very Eighties website about a Friend group of Deveplovers. "Why it would be so important?", you would ask.. Well.. I recognized it beacuse it was the Same website someone remembered taking a image of a ASCII face from the C64. Obviously, some of the images are Shutdown, Including the non-edited images of the ASCII faces. Yet, it is really a Great step for the Veteran namco fans.. Including me. Hope you have a nice day guys, And Happy halloween!" But remember. This is a urban legend.. It is not know yet if there really was a Ian Phillips. Or if they really made a C64 port of Mappy.. But we all know. Those faces will torment zack forever.. Credits to Iceclimber_1984 for the Mappy and Meowkie sprites. Credits to Namco for creating Mappy. Credits to C148 for his theme "Sweden" and Sierra11 for making the 8-bit Remix (I just edited it a bit to make it sound like its coming from a Old computer). Please note this is my try to make something better out of a story that is just "OoOoOo missing person inside Mappy oOoOoOo". So dont expect to it be absolute cinema. Hope you have a nice day, guys. :)
