ENTRY 1 why can’t i fly - a nonfiction fact article Many humans alike wonder: why don’t humans have wings? Since they’re so useful, why haven't we evolved to have them? They seem cut and dry – copy some from a bird and paste them on us. But the reality is that humans could never realistically have wings! But why? Birds can, so shouldn’t we be able to? No! Take a look inside of a bird; any of your choosing. Birds are specially built exactly for flying, meaning they are very small and lightweight. To be able to have the small, delicate wings that they do, they have pneumatic bones. This means that their bones are hollow and air-filled, making them weigh significantly less. But human bones aren’t air-filled and hollow. Our bones are sturdier, less fragile, and built to hold our weight. To be able to fly with wings, humans would have either have pneumatic bones, or the wings would need to be really, REALLY big. The wings would have to be extremely large– more so then you’d think! In fact, a person weighing the average human weight would need an over 20-foot wingspan. Wings would become a huge part of our overall body mass– probably even over 50%. Humans would also need to build incredible muscles to be able to control and hold up the wings. Another fact would be we couldn’t just start flapping and fly- we’d need a jumping or running start. We also couldn’t just attach wings to our body- humans would have to develop a bone to connect the wings to our body. In conclusion, wings are likely to never appear on human bodies– even many years into the future. If our anatomy stays mostly the same, even after massive amounts of time and development, humans will never have wings.
ENTRY 2 excuses - a poem Dear teacher, please excuse my absence. for this morning everything went wrong and i nearly set free my rabbits, yes i’m feeling sort of done, and may soon lose my balance. Dear nurse, i visited you today because i really did need to go home! but you had nothing to say even though i told you i was sick. I know you don’t believe me when i walk in and complain, but it really does hurt me when you throw me a look of distain. Dear mom, I’m sorry i blew my cool. but you see, brother pushed me in the pool! everything is going wrong everything all at once so if you could spare a moment i really need someone. Dear teacher, please excuse my absence. you say i could’ve tried harder, but i’ve tried more then once. you do not see my struggle and you do not see my pain so next time you are doubtful, just please try to refrain. dear whoever’s reading, i am certain you can see that sometimes understanding is the very best thing to be.
