Popularity is a status can slightly alter the purchase rate of all of your items, as low popularity is ineffective, and high popularity makes your items get purchased a bit more often. However, the more you have the less effective it will be. Popularity can also drain faster the more items you have, and also when a competitor arrival is announced in the news. The news is a textbox saying what is gonna happen. For example, "news: EVERYONE PAYS TAXES" means you will lose 300 cash. Lastly, losing the game means that you reached 0 popularity, so beware!!!
